"Worst experience ever"

Worst experience of my life book the hotel room customer service agent lied to me and said that the wedding parties booked rooms were filled when there was 10 left so I had to pay full price $$437 for two nights when I found out that he lied to me I complained and they said they would give me my money back even though it was nonrefundable, but only in a voucher then they canceled my room for the two nights that I was supposed to be there Their customer service is absolutely the worst I’ve ever experienced, and I would definitely not recommend this place to stay.

"It’s terribly run"

It was terribly run. Had people pounding on my door at 1:30am. The staff checked me into a room that was already occupied. And the breakfast was sub-par. Not worth the money.

They cancelled our hotel room 2 hours prior to check-in stating the hotel had been overbooked. This was with calling and confirming our room five days earlier. Refused to help in finding another hotel and didn’t offer any type of compensation for the inconvenience we had scrambling to find another hotel room during NASCAR weekend. Ended up having to pay more for one of the last rooms in the area. Won’t be making reservations here again.

"Disappointing Return Stay – Still Not Up to Hilton Standards"

As a longtime Hilton Honors Diamond member, I’ve stayed at many Hampton Inns across the country, including this one in Marshalltown several times while visiting family. I left a critical review after a disappointing stay last year, and while management responded with promises to improve, I’m sorry to report that nothing has changed—and in fact, the conditions have gotten worse. We had a group of six rooms again this year for a family reunion, and while the front desk staff were at least more polite this time (though not particularly warm), the overall experience fell well below expectations. The hot tub is still empty—one full year later—with just a few chairs and some caution tape around it. No signage, no barrier, and no explanation. It remains a clear safety hazard, especially for children. The pool is even worse than last year—dirty, pitted, and rough on the feet. Not one person in our group used it after seeing the condition. The parking lot is deteriorating badly, with pitting and cracking, and the front entrance and Diamond member parking area are surrounded by weeds, making the whole property look neglected. My room smelled musty, and the toilet wouldn’t fully flush, making for an unpleasant bathroom experience. But the worst part was the door key system. The outdated card reader locks barely function. Across our six rooms, we made eleven trips to the front desk to reactivate keys that simply wouldn’t work. I've since read reviews from other guests reporting being locked out for hours. This is totally unacceptable. I truly want to support this property for the sake of convenience when visiting family, but Hilton needs to seriously reevaluate its standards here. This is not what any guests should expect from a Hampton Inn.
