Popinjay Hotel

Bed was amazing. So big and comfy, no WiFi in room which I was not happy with as i had a 13 year old with me. Only reason I booked here was because they had WiFi.

First Room I had No1, absolute disgrace - no heating, freezing cold - except for a small portable oil heater - (which wasn't PAT tested) *Plastic for windows - split *Dirty Carpets *Very poor water pressure for shower I wouldn't go back

one of the members of staff was a bit annoying and gave confused messages of where the "dog friendly" areas were even when we had been told that the lounge was dog friendly. The hotel was lovely though. We have stayed here before and our dog was welcome in the lounge area. Considering there was no one else in the lounge after people went through to the function room I couldn't see an issue.

Ended up in a room that had frosted glass glazing, 2 sets of double glazing, to keep the noise out. No remote control for the tv. A bit tired looking.

We checked into room which was cold, I tried to turn up heating but was on full but rad was just warm. The shower had low pressure with warm water again not hot, I could not shave as I could not get any hot water out of sink tap. We went down stairs to get warm in bar and saw a lady complaining with a towel round her head, the restaurant was good and food was superb. Went to bed and mattress hollowed in the middle with room still cold. We explained our issues to reception in morning after listening to a couple complaining about their bed, reception seemed shocked and confirmed we will not return, we only booked an over night as we stayed in an other hotel the second night with wedding reception

Very good apart from water pressure as it only dribbled from the taps. FOOD. Was excellent.

Great hotel and great staff and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Great place to stay.

Our stay was awful. The room we had was absolutely filthy... we complained as we also had no water pressure... it took ages to get enough water for a bath ... couldn’t fill the sink ... no stopper... dirty walls and carpet... smelly ... offered another room... but declined as it was just as dirty and smelly. Only stayed as it was so convenient as to where we were going and we don’t know the area😡😡

Room booked using hotels.com, i contacted hotel 3 times prior to check in to ask if i could pay for any upgraded room if any as i wished to pitch my fiancee the venue for our wedding, no response after a week , wee checked in and got room 24, itwas the most dated horrible room i have ever seen, nothing like any pictures on site- i went straight to reception who immediantly gave me an up grade to the clyde suit, lovely room, you wouldnt believe it was the same hotel, after a semi decent meal and 2 drinks wee retired for the night.next morning my fiancee had a quick shower in turn the full bath room flooded, i tried to un block drain with no success, i then flushed the toilet which also bagan to fill up and over flow, so we got dressed quickly ( me un showered) and left, we told reception of problem, who just thanked us for informing them..... This trip was a huge disappointment i actually really like the venue have for many years, but how could i pitch my wife to have our wedding day there after a trip like that ???.... Let alone advertising wedding packages on their website, after contacting them 3 times asking if someone would be availbale to discuss in more depth with me during my stay i had no response. Why advertise is it , and then not follow up with someone who is genuinely interested??.... Do they not want the business,?? im left speechless
