Royal Castle Hotel

Beautiful hotel located on the quayside, right next to all the main facilities of the town - shops, ferry departure points, and tour meeting points. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, going the extra mile to be welcoming. Food was also good.

There's no lift so ask for a room on the lower floor if you're less mobile.

Breakfast was excellent. We also had sunday lunch and a smaller lunch on sat both also very good

Car parking is not available and the park and ride is not great, some sort of scheme where you could pay for a pass for the nearby carpark would be good

There is a serious long standing problem with the drainage which is beyond the control of the hotel and dependant on the wind and tide. It causes severe smells, particularly in the rear bedrooms, which cannot be opened. On one afternoon it could be smelled throughout the downstairs bar. Not a pleasant experience. We had reserved our stay for four nights but left the hotel early after three nights.

Excellent clean well furnished huge comfy bed .excellent location.
