The Royal Hotel Dartmouth is 10/10 perfect in absolutely every respect! Both the hotel and the family who own it have a fascinating and interesting history.. This just adds kudos to an already perfect hotel.. I don't say that lightly.. We've traveled extensively all over the world and this is honestly one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in! ▪️ Location - couldn't be better, right in the heart of Dartmouth and our bedroom had fabulous view of the harbour looking out across the river Dart.. Perfect! ▪️ Ambience - the hotel on ground floor is basically your perfect homely pub/restaurant. Upstairs and staircases really are worth a mention! It's like entering Hogwarts, fabulous!! The first floor houses beautiful breakfast and evening restaurant.. ▪️ Rooms - our room was stunning, so tastefully decorated with every aspect so carefully curated to ensure there was a balance of luxury combined with old world comfort put together so well.. I cannot emphasize enough how much I loved the decor and fittings in our room.. All the extras that other hotels don't bother about screamed pure class.. From the stunning pair of Sherlock window seats to the absolutely out of this world curtains.. Bathroom was very modern and pristine, excellent shower, lush hand soap/cream and handy motion sensor night floor light.. As I say, everything was well thought out! Whoever styled these guest rooms knows exactly how to make guests feel both at home and in a very upscale hotel! ▪️ Staff - oh my goodness.. reception, breakfast dining, downstairs restaurant all super friendly, polite and helpful.. Thank you!! Also must mention the housemaid staff too since our bedroom was maintained to a pristine standard throughout our 5 day stay.. (despite being full and extremely busy during our stay it never felt like it.. This team managed to deliver a very personal excellent service!

Beautiful refurb, loved the decor and new upstairs bar area which was lovely. Staff all friendly and helpful, good service and room cleaned to a good standard. Third floor room had an amazing view and it was a sun trap

Parking is an issue - we have a blue badge but spent a lot of time moving the car to various sites across town as there's no long stay parking in Dartmouth and no park and ride out of season. This is a bigger issue than just the hotel but not good for disabled people and could cause anxiety so best to know in advance. Likewise there are lots of stairs at the hotel which adds to the character but could be a challenge for some. If we were being picky, a bit of more at breakfast might be good e.g more veggie options and more in the buffet but what is available is a good standard.
