"Exceptionally bad treatment by staff"

2.0

Very rude staff - I had to leave the hotel on my first night even though I had pre-paid for the full 3 nights. Never been treated this way at a hotel anywhere in the world! Seems less important than the above, but adds to the awful experience: The hotel is in an exceptionally noisy area. The small window of the room was facing a brick wall (2 meters away from the window). Very small, dark room.

"Good"

Life Boutique is conveniently located near the port and is walking distance to the center of town. It's clean and well-maintained.

"Hotel close to port and bus station"

6.0

There are no restaurants close to this hotel unless you want McDonalds. There is a stop for the bus that runs to the airport right outside the hotel. Unfortunately the rooms are not sound proofed and you hear all the traffic and people in the rooms next to you. The bed was comfortable though.

"Ok Hotel...just "

6.0

Although from the outside it looks a bit like a backstreet brothel, it's actually quite nice inside with a bar/ice cream area. The room itself was ok but could have done with a bit of sprucing up. There was a faint smell of smoke in there and on some of the pillows. The remote control for the tv was one of the dirtiest remote controls I've ever had the misfortune of handling - really sticky and just eurgh. There's also the now familiar smell of sewage which I think I will associate with Crete as you can't flush paper. That's not the hotels fault but I felt it was 'imbedded' into the room more than an in other places, though that might just have been my sensitive nose. The shower is also old and needs replacing, and the bath is non existent - you would have to sit clutching your knees to fit in it I don't know why it's there. The main road outside also interrupted our sleep quite a lot, but again that's not the hotels fault. But what you do get is decent and basic. You get a massive bed, air con, a balcony, an *ahem* romantically sized mirror opposite the bed, and good service from staff. You are also close enough to the town centre for it not to feel too far away, though it is in an area of Heraklion where the pavement (if you can call them that) is particularly treacherous. This certainly isn't a hotel to lounge around and relax in; it's a just about decent hotel within reach of the town centre that you use to sleep in between your city adventures - expect anything more and you will be disappointed. It's ok and you get what you pay for so you can't be all too mad. I just wish they would have cleaned a little more as out of all the things that aren't in the hotels control, cleanliness is.

"Fine for 1 night"

6.0

We needed to catch an early ferry from the Iraklion port and Life Boutique was perfectly located just a couple hundred meters from the dock. It was fine and functional for a quick stopover, but wouldn't stay there for an extended trip.

"Good value stop-over for early morning ferry"

8.0

Booked this for one night due to proximity to the ferry port. Not what most would consider a boutique hotel to be, but fitted our purpose. Room very basic but OK, good wi-fi, aircon and very helpful staff. Right under the flight path and on a main road, so not quiete!

"Ideal location if you are taking the ferry and walking distance to old town and museums."

8.0

Stayed one night each before and after catching the ferry. Short walk to the ferry. You couldn't stay closer. Good price. Friendly and helpful staff. We were able to park our car right across the street and they let us leave it there the 3 days we were gone. Place has been recently renovated and rooms are clean and bright. Bathrooms are small but clean and I like the little tub showers though they should add a proper hook to hang the shower head. We were able to walk to town to the archeological museum and all the terrific restaurants. There is a cafe attached if you need a coffee or breakfast. Great wifi. Room had a little balcony and you could see the port.

"Good Value"

8.0

Room was a good size and a great price. Location is great if you are arriving from the Port or Airport and is about 15 mins walk from the Centre. The Staff at the Reception were also very helpful with advice on good restaurants. The bathroom was a little cramped but you can't really complain when you compare the price to other hotels in the area.

"Only good for location"

4.0

We booked this because it was close to the port, which is really the only reason why you'd stay here. Other than that, the rooms are small, felt dirty, and everything needs updating. Even though the receptionist was nice, we will not be staying there again.
