Il Barlanzone

The lady who we met and who gave us our room was just unpleasant. She was so arrogant and not friendly at all. This was new to us, as we have rearly experienced this kind of obnoxious behaviour in our (hundreds) accomodations over the years. We were friendly from the beginning, but somehow she wanted us to feel miserable. Every sentence we said she replied rude and with sarcascm. We didn’t understand why. We saw her with the customers in the wine cellar and she was giving her best show and was so ”friendly”. We just couldn’t understand why she hated us so much and wanted us to feel miserable. Maybe because we were nice and she had dealt only with bad customers, who were not so nice and told her place from the beginning? So maybe being nice to her was a mistake. If so, we feel sorry for her, if she wanted to ”get back to the difficult customers” trough us? We were offered a glass of wine for welcoming and we asked this woman about the wine tasting. She told that there is no tasting and we had already tasted their wine. What?!? So she basically asked us to go somewhere else for wine tasting and of course we went after this experience. We got very good service in the next place and bought some beautiful Brunellos. The room was small and there was nothing extra. The view was to the parking lot. This could have been ok, but the lady made our stay misrable. We met the owner Simone (?) and he was very nice and friendly. Hope he could have been our host during our visit. Lähetetty iPadista

We had a great experience at Il Barlanzone in Montalcino. Simone was so helpful and present as was Denise. We got the top floor room with a beautiful view of the city one direction and the fortress the other. Also, a gorgeous landscape in the distance. It was quiet and a very friendly town. Room was perfect as was the balcony where we could sit and drink a glass of wine! I recommend this spot very highly. Bathroom was well equipped and there is a complete kitchen if you wanted to make your own coffee or a meal. It was a perfect spot to begin our Tuscany travels!

We arrived there and the owner was very friendly, he offered us some wine and a free upgrade for our room and gave us the top floor apartment with an amazing balcony and a great view! The apartment was very nice and clean and service was just perfect, they also suggested us an amazing restaurant! I would definitely stay here again!

We wisited Montalcino to be in the heart of Tuscany, staying at Il Barlanzone was a great location and a great experience. The accomidation is located on the top of the hill, right next to the fortress. Simone is a wonderful host and is more then willing to guide you through your tour of wineries and wine :) Staying in Montalcino is like stepping into a Mamma Mia movie. I reccomend you have Montalcino as one of your last stops in Itali, because going from drinking Brunello di Montalcino to a lesser wine is no small task 🙈

We wisited Montalcino to experience the home of Brunello, the location of Il Barlanzone could not be better. Located on top of the hill, next to the fortress, and staying there is quite frankly like stepping into a Mamma Mia film. Simone is wonderful and willing to guide you every step of your tour through Tuscany. Highly recommend you make this one of your last stops in Italy, going from drinking Brunello di Montalcino to a lesser wine is no small task 🙈

Hotel excelente

Rooms are exceptionally clean and are good size. Bathrooms are small but this is typical for all European hotels. Entrance is through the wine shop, can be easy to miss the sign outside at night. Great location for day trips to wineries, the abbey, or other sights around Montalcino and Montepulciano.

Very good location - opposite the fortress. No meals served. The only refreshment you can get - cup of coffee from the Nescafe machine situated near the front door. Entrance through a wine shop. As any other local wine shops it's overpriced. Brunello 2013 is not mine wine. Sorry for this remark. Big enough, fresh and clean rooms. Pretty poor sound insulation, so if you haven't tied or drunk enough you definitely would be involved in the life of the rest guessed coming alongside your room's door during the night. Shower is so small, so if you have a claustrophobia don't risk to step in. I think the best room situated on the topmost floor and has a terrace with an astonishing view. By the way, as far as I know, children are not welcomed in this hotel.

Nice hotel in perfect location. Little wineshop in the lobby. Good rooms.

When we arrived in charming Montalcino we were impressed by the grace and beauty of the town. When our GPS told us to stop right in the most picturesque spot, we were thrilled. Our hotel room had a lovely balcony where we sat sipping wine, eating cheese and watching the sun go down. The view looked over the historic fort, the city walls, and off into the Tuscan countryside. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating. I would recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.
