Where is was situated

Room had no hot water to the hand basin or the bath

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Clean and comfortable.

Needs minor fixes, which I'm sure new management will get to soon enough.

Sheets and towels

P&D parking was a nightmare. The ‘reception’ guy did not have any keys. He muttered something about ‘She’s got them and I don’t know where she is’, but still took me up several flights of narrow stairs (there was a fag end on the carpet). He said ‘No 10 has the river view, would you like that one?’ I said, ‘yes, please’ and then he said, ‘it might be occupied already’ and I asked ‘don’t you allocate rooms when people book?’ ‘No, it’s first come first served’ and I’m thinking, that’s not normal but whatever. To be fair to him, he was trying be helpful! He went to go and find the keys, leaving me on the landing which wasn't great as I only had about an hour to get myself installed, changed and organised. He came back with the keys after a while and declared No.10 already taken so I had No.11. The room had a slight smell of bad plumbing, was desperately shabby with badly stained ceilings and beat up old furniture, but the sheets and towels were at least fresh. The shower had a good lining of black mould round the edges. However, the worst bit was that the key they gave me to get into the hotel after hours (I got back about 11pm) was completely the wrong key - it didn't even fit the lock!! I was really banging on the door in the end as I was scared I was going to be stuck outside on my own all night. I somehow remembered the phone number and called - a man answered immediately (I was amazed) he said he'd come and let me in but instead a young woman (obviously stoned) opened the door because she wanted to smoke (or something) outside - she asked me to prop up the door with her bucket full of fag ends. I obliged and rushed up the stairs, vowing to leave as soon as I could in the morning. Then I couldn’t get to sleep because I was agitated and the traffic noise was terrible. Eventually, I woke up at 5.30am and left immediately. When I left, the bucket was still propping up the door!

Nothing at all it was a bad experience from start to finish, booking in time was 14.00hr we could not get in until 16.30 due to lack of house keeping & made 100% worse due to me being ill & not getting to my room

The state of the whole hotel was exceedingly poor, beds had more springs digging into us than Zebede (magic roundabout character) no hot water from taps shower was total crap & bathroom bad all around

New manager in charge had only been there 3 weeks and was trying to fix everything the previous manager hadn't! Very keen to help and got rhe owner to come and fix the lightbulb in the bathroom and gave me a free drink for the wait :)

In the middle of remodelling, so not luxurious but fine for a night, on it's way up in the world.
