⚠️ Stay away from Hotel Cervo in Zermatt — for your own safety and your family’s well-being. This isn’t just a bad experience. It’s a health hazard. ⚠️ I never thought I’d write a review like this. I’m not someone who complains publicly — I’ve traveled a lot and always tried to be understanding. But after what happened to my family and me at Hotel Cervo, I feel responsible to warn others. We stayed there from April 14 to 20, with our 11-year-old child, expecting a relaxing, high-end vacation. We paid 12,000 CHF and experienced a complete breakdown of comfort, safety, and hygiene. On April 16, a snowstorm hit, and the town lost power. That’s not unusual in Zermatt this time of year — but Cervo had no generator, no backup plan, and no communication. For three full days, we had no electricity, no heat, and no hot water. Even after other places in town had their power restored on the 17th (the next day!), Cervo remained dark. Hot water was never restored. We had to shower in ice-cold water, including our child, in below-freezing temperatures until the end of our stay. That alone was enough to ruin the trip. But after several meals made us feel unwell, we saw the reason: mice were running across the buffet. At one point, we witnessed two mice mating near the food counter. When we reported this to the staff, their only response was: “It’s nature.” This is not nature — it’s a hygiene issue and a serious failure in food safety. The hotel showed no real concern, no responsibility, and no respect for what guests were going through. For the price we paid, what we experienced was simply unacceptable. We will be formally challenging their five-star status. If you’re a parent or traveling with family, please think twice before booking this hotel.

We loved every detail of Cervo, from the room with the stunning Matterhorn view to the amazing spa, hot pool, yoga classes, delicious breakfast and others. Every small detail, from arrival to departure, was exceptional, and the staff was incredibly helpful and truly outstanding!
