Chapter House Boutique Hotel

The staff are really friendly and professional, particularly Wesley the manager. Classified 5 stars but we did not find it so. We booked there for 5 nights, to be in the town centre rather than on a wine farm, but it is definitely overpriced. There is plenty of parking and both main entrances are well secured with someone on duty 24/7. Our room was spacious with a patio and splash pool, bed comfortable, nice quality linen. But lacking in 'warmth' somehow, a bit too 'industrial' for us. Bathroom cleaning was irregular: The bucket to recycle waste water in the shower was an excellent first for us, but it disappeared after the 1st day. Then there were no face cloths ... Although there are small pleasant lounges, there is no bar as such. Breakfast was good. Beware of their cancellation policy! My partner was unwell the day we arrived and got an appointment for him to return to Cape Town to see the doctor. So the next morning we told the manager that we needed to cancel our last night and he informed central reservations, requesting a refund for us. We have now been informed that the last night was kept booked under our name and will not be refunded. Not what we had understood, but have to accept.

A really beautiful hotel - boutique in every sense of the word and brilliantly situated close to shops and restaurants in the beautiful town of Franschoek. To be honest the customer service could be sharpened up. Comms on arrival was a bit odd - lots of simple information was not shared. We had to find our way round the hotel - it wasn’t clear what drinks were to be paid for and what was complentary. Breakfast service was similar - only discovered the juice bar when we left breakfast on the second morning. It’s a fantastic place - you can sharpen up your act.

We have just moved on from a four night stay at Chapter House in Room 16 in the newer part of the hotel. Modern minimalist design but very comfortable. There is a fairly steep flight of stairs up to the first floor which might be a disadvantage for some but there are a few lower level rooms. We were surprised there was no fridge in the room which is unusual these days but there was no problem in using the fridge in the main building for medication etc. Franschhoek is not short of small boutique accommodation but Chapter House is very well positioned and has a nice small swimming pool for relaxation. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and we would have no hesitation in staying again. Franschhoek is not the cheapest place to stay but quality/value at Chapter House is pretty good.

The Chapter House is a lovely place to stay in Franschhoek. Beautiful rooms, convenient location within walking distance of the main street, excellent breakfast (with the option to eat in a covered porch which was perfect) and terrific service. We enjoyed the afternoon G&T bar and I was particularly happy that, knowing that I have a nut allergy, the chef made sure the afternoon treats were all nut free. They also went out of their way to help us with a complicated dinner booking.

This is a fantastic boutique hotel in a great location. The breakfast was delicious and varied, the staff extremely friendly and helpful. Room 15 is amazing with huge corner double aspect windows and beautiful views of the hills.

A quiet, comfortable, tranquil place to stay in Franschhoek with all required amenities. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was good. Enjoyed being able to walk around the town easily from the hotel. Many dining options within an easy walk.

Nice quiet location just behind Main Road, great attention to detail. Lovely touches like cookies and apples in the room and a turn down service. Environmentally” conscious hotel. Comfortable beds and amenities. Sun terraced with plunge pool (very cold in October). Breakfast was great and tea/coffee available throughout the day. Wish we had stayed for more than one night.

We stayed 2 nights here - our second stop on a South African tour. We will definitely return to this hotel, the location was perfect and stones throw from amazing restaurants and fabulous shopping. The staff were so super helpful and nothing ever too much trouble. All in all more than 5 🌟 and I recommend you add a stop here to your itinerary!

Great staff and service. Excellent location and wonderful hotel. The hotel had a very comfortable feeling. A staff member would always ask if they can do anything for you to make your stay more comfortable. We would recommend this hotel to our friends

We returned to Chapter House a year after our first stay and it was just as good. This time we stayed in the newer part and our room was just as lovely as last year. Staff are fantastic and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is delicious as is the afternoon cake and unlimited tea and coffee. It was great to return for 3 nights.
