I was very happy with the ambience and everything offered. Just help with carrying luggage upstairs for those over eighty would be appreciated.

Ein tolles altes Gebäude mit sehr viel Charme.

Wunderschönes Gebäude das leider von den Zimmern her in die Jahre gekommen ist. Die Dusche auf unserem Zimmer war eine Katastrophe......um sie zu aktivieren muss man einen Schalter betätigen der sich im Kleiderschrank befindet....(warum auch immer).....danach mit gaaaaaanz viel Geduld und Gefühl versuchen das Wasser einzustellen......einfach unmöglich....!!

The Hotel was great! Loved the tartan, the 4 poster bed and the quietness. Location was beautiful. The bed was the most comfortable I have slept in during this trip to the UK. The food was great, dinner and breakfast. The bar was lively and the staff were lovely!

Very friendly staff from warm welcome, help with bags, dining staff etc all very welcoming, helpful and efficient. We ate in the bar both nights and the food was delicious. Service excellent and quick and prices very reasonable

To describe the hotel as "shabby Chic" is probably slightly overstating the ambience. It really needs a lot of work doing. Ill-fitting windows in bedroom and bathroom. Peeling paint in bathroom. Incredibly dusty tartan shawl on balcony in dining room. This hotel was probably the height of luxury in the day and whilst some upgrades have obviously been done, there is a way to go.

Guy at the check in was quite rude. Our key did not work so that an hotel employee had to climb through the window from the outside into our room to open the door from the inside. We only quickly wanted to get something from the car what took us 2min so we left our 5 months old puppy in the room. But then we couldn’t get back in anymore. We were seriously asked if there is anything we really need in the room?! Later that day the cleaning team managed to open the door with a key again and came in while I was naked because I just got out of the shower. We were told they thought we had checked out already for whatever reason. The room was ridiculously small and not clean. We put a chair on the cupboard to at least have some space to put a suitcase somewhere what led to „snow“ because there was so much dust coming down from the cupboard that we had to open the window to get it out. The bed was extremely uncomfortable (you could feel every spring in the bed). And all of that for more than 200 bucks. No thank you and big regret we’ve stayed there.

The room was quaint but old. The hotel did look grand from the outside.

The room was a long way from the reception with many steps. As 'older' people we found this difficult with luggage. We needed to leave early in the morning and no one was around to help with the luggage which we had to drag down numerous steps to get out of the hotel. It was destressing and someone should have been on duty by 7.30am to help. The bathroom was really old and the hot water wasn't very hot. Breakfast was only served from 8am which was too late for us.

I love the location of the property. The staff are very kind and friendly. Matthew was incredibly helpful both before we arrived and during check-in.

The shower was a bit weak and the sofa needs replaced.
