Backwater Ripples Kumarakom

It is very clean, has a beautiful garden, a pool with nice view of the lake and also the food was really great. Sindhu (the experience manager) took a lot of time taking care of us. She helped me with my skin problems by finding some good herbs, took lots of pictures of us, showed us the garden and gave us some fresh mangos straight from the tree. Also the reception was very friendly and helpful - they brought us some fresh coconut, answered all of our questions and also brought some breakfast to the room. An ayurvedic doctor gave us a lot of insight and we had a great massage, worth the money (around 25€ for 1 hour). There are events included, such as a boat trip with the sunset, guided walks, afternoon tea and snacks, and a lot more. All together it was a great experience.

Property location was mesmerizing which made the vaccation a perfect getway from the busy schedule. The staff was polite, helpful and made our stay memorable.

The property’s location is good. Complemented by an impressive view from the pool area that significantly enhances the atmosphere. Furthermore, the management was gracious enough to accommodate an early check-in, a gesture that was highly appreciated.

The stay was totally disappointing. Upon arrival, the room was uncomfortably warm. Despite the summer heat, no attempt was made to pre-cool the space, and the air conditioning unit took several hours to reach a comfortable temperature.The room was notably cramped. Furthermore, we were provided with two single beds pushed together rather than a genuine queen-size mattress. This was highly impractical, as the beds repeatedly slid apart during the night, leading to a very poor sleep experience.We experienced multiple power outages during our stay. Each instance took over five minutes to resolve, which is unacceptable for a luxury-rated hotel.Coordination between departments is nonexistent. When we requested glassware, the receptionist directed us to contact the restaurant, yet our calls to the restaurant went entirely unanswered.The dining options were severely limited, citing a "gasoline shortage." While logistical issues can occur, the hotel failed to adjust its pricing to reflect the reduced menu, which felt exploitative.The play area was sparsely equipped with very few activities available. Additionally, the pool hours are quite restrictive for a holiday resort, closing to guests at 7:00 PM.

Clean and well maintained resort with excellent food and great service in all areas . Friendly staff were attentive to all our needs and overall it was a very pleasant and enjoyable stay.

Great location. Right on the lake. Some of the best service we have had in a long time in the hotel. All the staff went out of their way, from the nice man at the pool who really helped take care of our kids, to the restaurant staff like Gireesh, Alen Jyothika and others. Food was spectacular, and once again service there was out of this world. Concierge Mrs Nair guided us and gave us great advise. Whenever back in this area we will definitely be back at this property. Great value and experience. We were a family of 4 visiting, my Wife, 5 yr old daughter, 1 yr old son with me.

We had such a wonderful stay at the resort. The hospitality truly stood out — everyone was incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay. The canal cruise was absolutely spectacular and one of the highlights of our trip. The team also went out of their way to suggest great local food spots and even helped arrange transportation for us, which made everything so seamless. We were traveling with our kids (aged 5 and 1), and they took such thoughtful care of them — it really made a difference for us as parents. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxing and well-cared-for experience in Kumarakom.
