JW Marriott Chicago

I liked the location, close to train station and walking distance for most things downtown. It was very clean and comfortable.

The photos of our room led is to believe we would have a tub and shower, but it was just a shower.

Great staff and location.

Overbooked and didn’t have the rooms we requested. Rooms were old. This place needs a renovation, definitely not a 5 star hotel.

Great location with easy access along the Loop. Plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. Hotel was clean and well appointed for everything we needed.

Miserably uncomfortable beds, flat pillows and uncomfortably hot. The “air conditioner” barely functioned in either of our rooms and regularly shut itself off without ever reaching the temps we set it at. The pillows have no substance and we had to stack 2 or 3 to sleep - even then, our arms kept falling asleep. There was dirt and hair in the shower behind the door as if the housekeeping never enters the shower to clean it fully and just cleans from the open door. The pillow cases were stained (or at least I hope they were just stains) with hair dye or ink. Apart from that, pretty clean. Staff was friendly. The worst thing was the “view” we paid for. It was non-exists t. You get either a view of an interior courtyard or what they call a “city” view which is just of the larger buildings all around the hotel since the hotel is only 4 stories high. It was 100% not worth the extra price we paid for it.

This JW Marriott was by far the worst JW we’ve ever stayed at. It was super dated, and needs to be completely redone. When we went to our room, it was still dirty and smelled of weed. They were nice enough to upgrade us to a suite which was very nice. But still very old with stains everywhere and my husband‘s pillow case had holes in it. We couldn’t believe this was W Marriott, all the other ones we have stayed at have been very nice.

Still waiting for our room. They don’t have enough staff to run the hotel. Stay away. The front desk is totally useless. There must be better options that can actually run a hotel.
