Metropole Katoomba

Location was excellent to get to the shuttle for UTA, Coles and for the dinner booking. Have booked it again for next year.

The location was good near the station.

The room was tiny, not the standard double room as purchased. Double bed up against a wall with small space to get in bed. One wall hook for all our clothes! No bedside light or table. TV control didn’t work. We were locked out as we weren’t given late access details on check in.

The parking was rather steep

Friendly and accommodating staff.

Lift was super small and slow.

Great location for catching the bus to UTA, clean. We have stayed in a bigger, nicer room there.

The room was much smaller and pokey than in the pictures (room 33). There was no room to walk on either side of the bed. You could barely fit on the toilet with the door closed. Paying double due to being UTA weekend. The fridge was noisy and the smoke detector on the roof flashes all night. The TV also emits a big blue light unless you turn it off at the wall. Would have been good to have access to breakfast a bit earlier due to the races starting early in the morning.

The staff were all quite friendly and helpful allowing me to use the appliances to cook my food - toaster, microwave etc.

My room - the powerpoints all need to be fixed - the one behind the kettle pushes back into the wall - quite dangerous. The powerpoint near the sitting desk switches are all damaged, the fan light doesn't even work, the fan in the bathroom doesn't work, there was clumps of hair on the carpet, I was confused with the aircon/heating appliance - didn't know if the aircon could heat as it didn't work? Very noisy - could hear the busses all night and walls are thin so need earplugs. Car parking is a matter of luck otherwise I don't know how far away free parking would be.
