Greywalls Hotel and Chez Roux

Duncan Fraser and the Greywalls staff provide the most comfortable, unobtrusive service imaginable. Huge soft beds with loads of pillows, luxurious Penhaligon's toiletries to make you feel pampered. A discrete tidy of your room and turn down service while we sat in front of a roaring log file eating the tastiest ever fish and chips.Sorry Chez Roux even the gorgeous food in the restaurant didn't tempt us away from the fire. Your truly made to feel very special at this outstanding hotel and I hope we can find an excuse to stay again soon.

A gem of a hotel. Well appointed a service of a very high standard. Staff are very nice and professional. Only slight disappointment is the practice of adding a 12% discretionary payment to drinks and food, not something I agree with. However, despite this I would definitely stay again.

Faultless from start to finish. The room was immaculate, bedding wonderfully crisp and comfortable. We stayed in one of the cottages and the short walk down the drive to breakfast or dinner only added to the experience. The hotel, built by Lutyens is an architectural masterpiece, as are the Jekyll gardens. Food is everything you'd expect and the hotel is as comfortable as can be. The views over Muirfield underline what a special place this is, whether you are a golfer or not. The service and welcome was perfect and we spent a truly magical two days. A hotel to treasure, thank you.

This has become an annual visit now. My third visit. I love the hotel, the staff are attentive but not overwhelming. The restaurant is excellent and worth booking whilst there. There are lots of nooks and crannies,a wonderful garden. And the area is wonderful for walking and history.

Comfy room overlooking the golf course. Under floor heating in bathroom a welcome touch on a frosty morning. Piano player in lounge in the evening creating a lovely ambience. Staff extremely courteous. Excellent Scottish breakfast. Heartlily recommend.

From the moment I arrived and was greeted by a member of staff until I left the following day the staff could not do enough for you and my bedtoom was lovely and the sitting areas in the hotel are so comfortable. Definitely would recommend for a chill oug break.

This is a wonderful historical country house set in a beautiful landscape and golf courses. The hotel is very comfortable, perhaps a little tired but certainly full of original character. The staff are extremely polite and attentive. The only issue we had was with the food. Chez Roux is the name of the restaurant and sadly it didn't live up to the name on any of the occasions we dined there in the evening during our stay despite excellent wines. Suggest you stay there and eat out locally at lunch and dinner.
