The Place

My partner and I stayed in this hotel for the Edinburgh tattoo. We had booked a junior suite. The room was huge with beautiful views and a very large, very comfortable bed. There was no bath but the shower was nice and there was a seating area with a large TV, there was also a convenient table with two chairs where we could sit in front of the window and look out to the views while having coffee. The hotel is beautifully decorated considering its age, quite modern, and the staff were very friendly. The prices were high, but this was because the tattoo was on and also the fringe festival. The location is very central. It took us less than 10 minutes to walk from Waverley train station. Our only negative comment is that we had to wait over an hour for our breakfast to be served, and the Scottish breakfast stack was just full of meat there was no beans or mushrooms or tomatoes, so it was very heavy going. However the avocado on toast was delicious. We enjoyed our stay and would return but would go elsewhere for breakfast.

Large spacious rooms and nice big bathroom. Staff were friendly, and great location.

Great location with transport at front door and walkable distance to Royal Mile and great eateries. Staff were fabulous and would highly recommend.

Great service at breakfast!

All staff members were super friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. We particularly enjoyed spending time with Shea. The only minor issue with the room was that an explanation of what had to be done for the lights to work was not given upon check-in. Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Friendly staff, pretty space and good view. Wish there had been a fridge and quieter doors; the stairwell got quite loud with fellow guests coming and going.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Place Hotel! With a family of 5, it is challenging to find accommodations to fit all of us comfortably. They had an apartment-style room with plenty of space and tea/coffee in the kitchen, along with some nice treats. The breakfast was an additional charge but so worth it, with traditional Scottish offerings as well as standard favorites, along with a beautiful arrangement of fresh fruits, pastries and yogurt. I also highly recommend the Edinburgh G and Tea, served at the hotel bar, which is wonderfully decorated and relaxing. The location was PERFECT! Walking distance to everything but not in the crowded, touristy area near the castle. Most of all, we appreciated how friendly and welcoming everyone was! We would like to send our gratitude to Sam and Jennifer in particular, however everyone was helpful and made us feel right at home. Thank you! We hope to visit again in the future!

Easy check in, parked car no problem, place is immaculate and has everything I need for my time here.
