The Place

Mattress felt like it was 20 years old! Could squeeze both sides of the mattress together, could feel the bed base when sat on the mattress and could feel the springs when laying on it, both beds in the room were the same and I was offered an alternate room but the mattress had exactly the same issue. Ended up sleeping on top of 2 double duvets folded in half and a thick mattress topper to make my night vaguely comfortable and bearable. Will certainly not be staying here for my next trip to Edinburgh. The Premier Inn next door was far more comfortable, you didn't get any noise from the road and was actually slightly cheaper

Great, maybe a little less accessible which wasn't a problem for me, it seemed like the hotel has air-conditioning for only half the rooms, which I thought was odd.

There were a lot of steps up and down to get to our room not good for elderly people. There was only one bedside cabinet so had to use the floor and hence there was no reading light on one side. Also, the shower was too small if you are elderly or have limited mobility or indeed are overweight. We did pass our comments on to reception when checking out.

The Place exceeded our expectations and gave us an unmatched experience to celebrate our anniversary.

My 4th trip to Edinburgh and I won’t be returning to this hotel for future visits. Large room, solo traveller and got upgraded, basically meaning I got a room with 2 huge beds, no use when on your own. The mattresses are past it, you can feel the base when you sit on them, can pinch the top and bottom of the mattress together, the staff tried to help, but not much you can do with a shot mattress. Tried mattress in different room, but exactly the same. Both beds were the same. I put a think mattress protector on top, and two, yes two double duvets, both folded in half on top of the bed to make it more comfortable, but not ideal. The shower and toiletries were nice. No air conditioning, and hot stuffy rooms, like others have said, can’t sleep with windows open as right on the main road with tram noise and traffic. Even stripped the 10.5 tog duvet off the bed and just slept under the duvet cover as was too hot otherwise.

The room was clean and large and very well decorated. Very cozy and a great location

The Place Hotel was the absolute perfect place to stay in Edinburgh. The staff was amazing, the room was the perfect and the location could not have been more perfect. I'll definitely be coming back to stay here the next time I'm in Edinburgh!
