Anchorage Hotel

Wonderful stay at this family run hotel. Very good food. Good value for money. Good spa facilities. My wife had a treatment she was very pleased with. Easy free parking. Good entertainment. Lovely outdoor space and cafe. Outdoor swimming pool. ALL the staff were excellent including many younger members of staff who had been well trained. The management has done a great job in preparing their staff to meet people's needs. We are looking forward to returning later in the year. Well done to all concerned.

Me and my fiance booked to stay here for our first trip away just the two of us. Have to say we are extremely disappointed and walked out as soon as we saw the room l. It was riddled with mold and dirt everywhere and the entire atmosphere was horrible.( we felt as if we walked into a care home) the photos on the website is nothing like in real life at all. Would not recommend.

What a fab place to stay. Good food, nice friendly staff, good cocktails and good location. Had a magician one night, live music the next. It was absolutely amazing. We loved everything about it.

After reading some horrific and hilarious reviews in the past, this hotel has always been on my to do list, just to see for my self how bad the place was. On arrival a police car pulled up, and a police officer entered the building, and ask for someone staying in the hotel. Yippee I thought, this place is not going to disappoint. The police officer informed me that the hotel was very good, in comparison with others in Torquay. The room was quite small, but suited our needs. You could hear footsteps of people in rooms above, but obviously the hotel was built prior to the sound deadening, that is required on new build. The dinner time was between 18.00 -19.00 which was a little short in our opinion. A singer provided the entertainment for the evening. She was extremely good, but unfortunately there was only a few people in the bar. The breakfast was first class, with staff continually checking on food etc. I had hoped to write a review about wild animals scratching at doors. Wild dogs savaging the staff on reception, Horrendous noise from the lifts and filthy rooms, and curtains disintegrating when pulled, but no. The hotel needed bits of TLC, but was not a problem. The beds were comfortable. And the staff were all very hard working and helpful. Well done to all involved. The breakfast was excellent for the money

Was offered a early check in for extra 5 pound on day of arrival, on a 2 day break with my mum , smooth check in reception staff very helpful , ok rooms maybe a little dated , but you had everything you needed. Clean tidy everything , pool is not very deep but what do you expect from a small hotel . Spa was great , had a massage both days and was fantastic , felt so relaxed , food great had afternoon tea here as well . Me and mum treated very well staff could not do enough , do try this hotel , if someone I find have a slight thing to loan about. It just escalated very easy , so try for yourself you won’t be disappointed. I will definitely recommend

We're here now, all the staff are really friendly and professional, Susie works really hard on the daytime and the ladies on reception are brill, we've been coming for over 20 years now and the prices are still excellent value for money, we'll be booking up for their special offers in October and Christmas.

Just wrapped up a short stay at this wonderful hotel, and I already miss it — and more importantly, the people who make it what it is! Huge shoutout to Trevor – the main man himself – who was incredibly accommodating and made everything feel effortlessly smooth. The receptionists were stars – super helpful, always cheerful, and somehow knew the answers to my questions before I even asked them. Special appreciation goes to the coffee wizard in the café — that machine was probably sent from heaven, but it takes a real pro to work magic with it. I’ve had less emotional relationships than the one I developed with my morning latte. And of course, hats off to the pool guy – the spa and pool were very well maintained. Every single member of staff was friendly, helpful, and genuinely lovely. I really enjoyed my short stay – wish it could have been longer! Thanks again!

Pictures not like they are online (booked via booking.com ) Cleanliness wasn’t the best in the room Had to pay each day for the pool and spa if you book via booking.com the pool is only knee deep might be good for children but not really adults . Bathroom wasn’t clean. The bedding wasn’t changed , The room wasn’t cleaned The only thing was the bins emptied

I wanted to go home few hours of arrival.! We even had to change room it was that bad No room service or regular maintenance for the room . Downstairs room was so bad . Moud smell and foggy air so unsafe we couldn’t stay there . The whole place need a re make over not worth the cost at all

Will be returning, surrounding area great with nearby park for kids and local shops, great view of Babbacombe from grass area, very friendly locals, excellent for dogs to stay too
