A lovely place to stay

Breakfast was fabulous. Room needed updating and bed was very uncomfortable and very noisy when turning over. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Stayed for 3 nights in a Deluxe room. The Inn is old but some area’s have been very sympathetically refurbished (JJ’s Bar & the Ballroom). Yes the floors are uneven, stairs to the first floor bedrooms are steep & there are steps in/out of various facilities. That is what we expected and once aware did not cause us undue concern. There is a car park behind The Inn accessed via a narrow lane. Yes it was full at times during our stay but there is on street parking nearby, albeit that some parts are restricted on time. A popular venue, seating is available in The Pub, JJ’s Bar and The Courtyard. Breakfast is served in The Ballroom, individually prepared & the menu provided us with plenty of choice. Had bar snacks in JJ’s Bar one evening, went for the 6 for £30 option. Great taste, quality & value. Music events are held in The Courtyard on selected nights. All the service and staff were very good. If you are looking for a character filled location, can cope with uneven floors/stairs & steps, quirky rooms, a great breakfast with the possibility of free evening entertainment then enjoy, as we did

Central location was good Parking was not easy

We were looking for a historical coaching inn to complete our unique stays across Britain's South West and that's exactly what we got! Noisy when we arrived but quiet after 11 for a good night's sleep.

Unfortunately we didn’t get any notification of the local music festival taking place on the weekend of our visit. It therefore meant we couldn’t drop our luggage off at the hotel/pub entrance or park the car, so we had to make do parking around 1/4 of a mile away. We were told the festival was due to finish at 6pm as we checked in at 6.20pm! However the party continued in the courtyard of the hotel until 12.30 in the evening. I did go down just before midnight to enquire what time the music would stop and was told 11pm. I asked if I could have a word with the manager but after 10 minutes the young man returned to tell me the music would stop in 5 minutes… I think the music festival is a great community activity but I just wish I’d been warned about it so that I had a choice about paying for a night of sleep deprivation! I’m still awaiting a satisfactory response from the manager about my feedback but I don’t feel confident …

Nice hidden gem in Old Town Centre. Great location, great ambiance, great staff, great food, great drinks...

Excellent Stay, the weather was excellent, service was good and the music at the festival celebrations was very enjoyable.

Stayed for a couple of nights to meet up with family. The room was spotless and very comfortable. Had an evening meal with the family and was blown away by the flavour and exceptional cooking techniques on display.....highly recommended so dont mias the opportunity to sample. The icing on the cake, showing excellence in customer service, was when I tried and failed to book a taxi, a member of staff gave a lift to my wife and I to our destination without blinking an eye...superb. Will definitely stay when I'm visiting the area in the future

I had a wonderful experience considering there was a 3 day music festival right outside the Inn. I had a slight issue with parking and luggage but the whole experience had been wonderful. The Hotel Manager upgraded my room.
