Sunset Plaza Beach Resort & Spa Pto Vallarta All Inclusive

Our check-in experience was unfortunately frustrating. We had booked three rooms separately, not as a group, but were told by one staff member that we all had to check in together—despite there being two employees available. The team member struggled with the first reservation (I’ll let that guest speak to their own experience), and this delay left us, including a tired and overheated 2-year-old, waiting over an hour with no communication or empathy from the second staff member. She remained at her desk without offering assistance until she finally realized how long things were taking and stepped in to complete our check-in. Sadly, she also skipped any orientation about what the resort offered. Thankfully, the rest of our stay was a completely different story. Every staff member we encountered afterward was warm, helpful, and genuinely kind. Special thanks to Epifenio, Jorge, Gerardo, and Gabriel—your outstanding service truly made our trip special. The resort itself is lovely—smaller in size, which we appreciated, especially while traveling with young kids. The beachside property is well maintained, the food was delicious, and the kids’ pool was a major plus for our little one. Despite the disappointing arrival, the rest of the team and the property itself helped turn things around.

The check-in was fairly easy and the concierge that brought my bag up was very friendly and polite. The property was just as advertised for the most part. Part of the building is under construction which looks pretty ugly, but no big issue. My biggest complaint and the reason for my three star review was the staff. The staff in every area of this establishment were very rude. They made it known that they were irritated with my language barrier. They also did not seem very interested in servicing me at all. With the exception of a few staff members, most of them acted completely uninterested in assisting me or annoyed that I had entered their part of the building requesting service. I walked into two different food establishments on the property. I was looked at all upside my head at both establishments. The staff seemed uninterested in answering any questions or even telling me how anything worked.It got to the point that I just ordered room service so I wouldn’t feel like I was inconveniencing anyone for having to assist me. Although my experience wasn’t bad per se, I don’t think I will book this location again.

I loved that there was an adult pool and a Jacuzzi with an amazing view, however, I did not like that people would take kids into these areas and that it was not monitored until you had to complain about it. The ocean front room was exactly what I thought it would be with an amazing view and a very spacious balcony. However, I did not enjoy not having hot water in my shower to relax.. you basically get what you pay for at this location, but I would definitely recommend it if you want an amazing view and not too concerned about food options or a variety of activities.

Professional service, cleanest of property and excellent food.

It was okay

The first thing to note was the food - it was horrible. The times you could get food were really confusing. I ordered Pad Thai during their Asian themed night and it was noodles floating in a thick sauce with peanuts and chopped yellow peppers on top. All the meals came with a weird smear of an unknown sauce dotted along the edges, trying to be fancy but not disguising the poor quality of food. Everyone smokes on the balconies so it makes it hard to enjoy being on it yourself. You pay extra for a plunge pool on your balcony and it isn't private and the plug didn't work so it would be draining out as you were in it. The rooms are not sound proof at all so you could hear people running and yelling down the halls, other people slamming their doors and their conversations. Front desk were not welcoming, no smiles from the lady who was there. Very cold. And when you need help its like you are bothering them. Pools don't open until 9am and they won't give you a towel until after that time to even use on the beach. They also close at 9pm but they start taking away the cabana cushions at 3-4pm and say it's for the rain but that happened every single day. Lots of the serving staff were welcoming and hospitable but there were times I ordered things and they never came or they would ignore me since I wasn't drinking alcohol. The quality of toiletries was bad. I had to use a whole mini bottle of shampoo just for it to create a lather. Unorganized. Uninviting. Not worth the price.

This is a very resonable resort for the money. The staff made all the difference. Great food, location is great for walking the beach or the street and shopping.

Very impressed with service. Hotel clean and perfectly located. Food was delicious. Overall excellent value. Would stay there again.

Servicio especial más de 10 estrellas, la señora que marina que te atiende para reservar las excursiones muy amable y encantadora, sin dudas alguna es un lugar donde puedes sentirte como en casa los mayordomos todos muy atentos y serviciales, la comida muy buena el servicio de habitación bueno todo en general me encantó sin duda alguna volvería de nuevo se los recomiendo mucho y otra cosa que no puedo dejar de menciona los meseros todo son muy atentos y detallistas, amé este hotel
