Accessible rooms by lift. Food good

A nice if somewhat tired hotel in lovely grounds. Staff mainly lovely--1-2 moments of irritation. Room great.

Tired in places. The dinner menu was too niche--mainly Japanese with Spanish sprinkling. We are open to different food but would be a problem for some and children. The menu choice was also incomprehensible.

Friars Carse is set in a beautiful location with an amazing round walk along river and through woods to the Burns Hermitage

We had the Bridal suite but found it poorly decorated (no pictures, no plants, no special decor etc). The furniture was fine just the ambience was lacking - especially for a bridal suite. The bathroom was similar.

The setting is beautiful with the river Nith running through the grounds, very romantic. The hotel staff were largely friendly and helpful. Our room fronted the garden. grounds and river, a great view to wake up to. Dinner was very nice although the choices were largely based around rice and pasta.

The buffet breakfast was very disappointing. Largely toast, cereals and pastries. On our second day we booked into a later sitting and we had to ask for items to be replenished. Also, no oat milk available as an alternative.

Die Lage und der Ausblick aus dem Zimmer waren sehr gut. Auch beim Thema Sauberkeit gibt es nichts zu beanstanden.

Die Zimmer sind spürbar in die Jahre gekommen. Das merkt man an rissigen Wänden oder einer nur noch halb hängenden Gardinenstange. Abseits davon war das „Continental Breakfast“ war zwar im preis inbegriffen aber vom Umfang her eher enttäuschend. Es gab keine salzigen Optionen nur Marmelade und Honig.

Beautiful surroundings, lovely old building.

Didn’t look too inviting from outside at the windows once in that changed beautiful building. Breakfast 8-30 no butter left the replacement butter was so hard .No croissants left either . Meal in evening staff hadn’t a clue any questions from us and people around they had to go check with kitchen for an answer they should have known. We asked was it just the steak do we need to take chips as an extra told yes .. We ordered extra chips for the steak then it arrived with a big baked potato so ended up with chips that were not required .
