Pohutu Lodge Motel

With Pohutu geyser right outside your door you have one of the best locations in Rotorua. This natural wonder fires off approximately once an hour and you can watch it from your room or walk across the park at the back of the hotel to get an even closer view. Te Puia is arguably the best cultural show and dinner in the region - and it is right next door also! It is not in the centre of town (a good thing I think) but is a 1 minute drive up the Main Street to the Lake Rotorua. Spacious family accommodation (albeit not the most modern) with everything you need for a comfortable stay.

The lady who checked us in was very friendly and helpful with regard to things to see. The room was reasonable priced clean and comfortable. We were able to walk out the back of the hotel and have a view of the geysers.

Did not realise until we arrived that this was the same hotel we viewed approx 2 years ago for a spa room accomm. Not to our liking way back then. However, very pleasant welcoming that the photos we saw matched the room we received. It was indeed a different room, upstairs. Yes, a modern room. Bed soft but unexpected found where we had no problems in sleeping. Due to heatwave, we requested a fan rather than cancel our booking due to no aircon. Together with closing the curtains to the sun, room soon was cool. Vibrations felt from trucks on road, kids running on decks, car door slams but we were there when those were the only noise hence stay after a busy day was fine. Water pressure good in shower. No time to try out the spa bath but only the size of a normal bath for one person. Bathroom cupboard edges and underneath bath needs addressing but overall, we look for comfort and it did just that. Clean room spacious for 3 people. Staff lovely. Must walk out the back and view the geysers. Outdoor area available for both sit down and bbq. 1/2 hour brisk walk into town. Must go right up to the lake and the gardens nearby. Very lovely

Stayed 2 nights between Auckland and Napier. Easily booked online at relatively short notice as our original motel had closed down! Unfortunately had to leave early before we had a chance to say thank you and goodbye!

Close to everything. One of few places with two bedrooms, so great for families! Very neat and tidy. Would definetly recommended this hotel to families.
