Hotel Helvetia

Totally terrible hotel. There are no signs like Do not disturb. Staff entered our room on 2nd day to change bedsheets. I had valuables inside. On check out day they entered our room when we were having breakfast and took out the sheets and towels. I had not bathed yet. At 7am plus. 2nd time came in when we were in the room at 8am. Why are they coming in when we have not checked out? Bath area is on 2.5 x 2.5 feet.

Central location, close to everything and breakfast included.

Extremely old and basic hotel room with no frills. Shower head was broken.

This is a lovely quaint hotel and we liked the room. However we had to check ourselves in and were disappointed with staff insisting on immediate cash payment when we went down for breakfast. The room was prepared for the next guests while we were at breakfast, including personal items being moved. This is not appropriate

Cozy, comfortable. Easy to check in. Staff pleasant. Continental breakfast was good. Cons-Noisy at night, bathroom issues but usable.

Difficult to locate, you can see the sign in the street, but difficult to locate in the alley. No elevator, we were given rooms in the 4th floor, could you imagine carrying 3 big luggages and 2 carry-ons back and forth from the ground floor to the 4th in a very narrow wooden staircase? Never again will I book in this hotel. Shower holder is broken. Rooms are not soundproof, you can hear your neighbors. Not recommended.

The hotel is located in the middle of the main strasse in Zermatt, close to everything. The property is very old and currently under renovation (I think). The stairway is hard to climb and dangerous, often dark. The walls are bare drywall with exposed wiring. Our room on the fourth floor had a great view and a large shower, after that nothing good. The bed collapsed during the night, I fell through to the floor. The floors are on a slant and the bathroom has a small dangerous step to the toilet and shower from the sink. The on property staff is quite rude and showed no interest in the issues with the room. The housekeeper was pleasant and nice and did a good job. I checked out after the first night and found a new hotel. I have to say the owner, who is off property, did issue me a full refund and apologies. I am very grateful for his generosity. Perhaps the hotel will be better by next season. I hope so.

Our room is always kept clean. It's in the middle of the town, found in between the train station and matterhorn cable car. Very convenient location. The only cons is that there's no lift/elevator in the hotel.

Rundown hotel. No elevator, bed slats constantly falling out, linens and bedding old. At time of booking we requested a lower floor but we were put on the top (fifth) floor. Noise all night from a nearby bar.

I woul like to comment about the room. It was very noisy, looks under construction, the staff are not that helpful, bathroom are very small, and they have early check out which we rushed packing our stuff. And also food in the breakfast are not that bad. The hotel are very dark and there’s no elevator. The good thing is in the downtown area which I like. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone especially for the elders.
