"Great location but pub needs an upgrade"

7.0

Location

Rooms need a good refurb especially the bathrooms. Quilt not big enough for bed. TV didn't work properly . Had to go to another pub for breakfast as no food served at pub.

"Saracen's Head stay"

Location was great. Staff were friendly. Bed was very comfy with spotless linen. Super thick & soft towels.

Shower needed a good clean. One bedside lamp wasn't working. But l saw the reviews & still came.

"Mwah…."

"The room we were given should not be used as accomodation."

3.0

There are serious management issues here but Jo who worked in the pub and who welcomed us moved heaven and earth to put things right. We had arranged on the phone to have an iron left in the room. We were attending a funeral and it was essential. When we arrived there was no iron. Jo found us an iron but it didn't work. Having tried everything else Jo rang her daughter and asked her to drive her own iron down to the pub. We were very grateful to both Jo and her daughter.

A laminated card left in the room told us the wrong wifi code and details of breakfast that is no longer served. Jo gave us the correct code but it was very weak. Also the wifi is so insecure that BT blocked our email account. When I turned the shower on there was no water. After a good 2 minutes it ran cold. I ran hot water into the sink in order to wash and the water in the shower ran hot. I asked about this the next day and it was known but nobody told us. Although the rest of the room was clean the shower was not. see photos There were hooks in the room but no hangers.

"Excellent"

Staff very helpful, I had selected Twin/Double option. Unfortunately the hotel cannot see your preference. They made sure to accommodate us, even moving us room so we could zip beds together. They were even installing fridges to accommodate guests requiring medication! Very thoughtful. Very handy location next to the main highstreet. We were lucky enough to get a parking space outside on the road too.

"Handy for local access."

7.0

Courtyard rooms were easy access as only one or two steps to the door. Location perfect as central for all Amersham restaurants etc Very quaint property. Clean, comfortable beds.

Weren't told in advance that breakfast would be at The Crown and not onsite. Glad it was a dry, sunny morning to walk down the road for breakfast. Fri evening was noisy towards closing time. While we appreciate it's a pub and there will be noise until 11pm. We needed an early night and having people talking loudly, swearing and smoking directly beside the bedroom window of room 7 was too much. Also it's directly next to the main gents toilet with associated noise. If the rooms directly on the courtyard are occupied then customers should be asked to be mindful of not standing directly by the room windows. Parking was hopeless. Nothing on the road beside the pub. Mainly double yellow lines. As we had to eat breakfast at The Crown we asked the night before if we could park in their carpark. They were very helpful and that's what we did.
