Sand Sea Resort

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. There’s so much to do in the area on top of an enjoyable accommodation at Sand Sea

This property and beach are great! I’m not sure it’s the best one but for us it was perfect. It’s a bit overpriced for Thailand in my opinion. Note: there is a huge trash barge that washed up on the shore right in front of the hotel obstructing the view. It’s going to take a lot of time and money to remove it so it’ll be there a while. This post is 8-9-25. The thing is, all the hotels have this problem on Railay beach so it’s not just Sand Sea’s problem. Overall, loved it!

Very hospitable staff

Excellent in every way, except: no beer in the restaurant, but they will get one from the mini mart. Spectectecular views. Staff are exceptional, even for Thailand.

Great location on Railay Beach. It extends to both the east and west beach. We arranged airport transfer from Krabi which seamlessly brought via van then motorcycle cart to a long boat. My mother in law in her late 60’s struggled a bit to get in and out of the boat but managed with some help and when the boat docked sideways. At reception, we were a welcomed with drinks and face towels. We booked two rooms for six nights and were happy to be upgraded with larger rooms closer to West Railay beach. Our room was generally comfortable though the room lighting could be improved. It was especially dim in the bathroom. There was plenty of hot water for bathing though the bathtub water pressure was low. The tub fixtures were also worn and in need of replacing. Breakfast has western and Asian foods with a chef egg station. The buffet oesn’t change much day to day but still has a decent variety. Coffee comes from a Nescafé machine. There is a newly owned Amazon Cafe onsite for slightly better coffee and plenty of other places around the area for better coffee. We ate lunch twice at the restaurant and found it decent but service varied wildly. The first time we went for a late lunch, service was good and quick. Our second time our server was difficult to flag done. My Mother in Law noticed the server was rarely looking in our direction while we were there. Otherwise we dined at the many restaurants on the pedestrian street nearby. The resort is upgrading rooms which didn’t affect our stay beyond noise from work done near our balcony during the day. Hopefully this will extend to all rooms. Railay beach west is a great beach but is also a busy beach with long boats dropping and picking up passengers during the day. It gets better after 5 pm. During our stay, a large rusty trash barge had beached itself in front of our resort’s restaurant which spoils an otherwise amazing view. Supposedly it was due to be removed but the tug boat that brought it also washed ashore and quickly fell apart from the daily tides. Hopefully both will be removed soon. The resort has three pools but we only used the pool closet to Railay West Beach for the best views. Phra Nang beach is a short hike away and also worth checking out. We would stay at Sand Sea Resort again the next time we go to Railay Beach. Tip: the tide can be quite high at times. Bring comfortable water shoes and if you’re going to explore the other beaches, a waterproof pack.

My only concern was the barge on the beach in direct site of dining… very disappointed

Lovely sized rooms and bungalows

This is a lovely hotel, great value for money. Clean and tidy rooms, lovely views. It’s clearly about value for money here, rooms are basic, as is the breakfast, but that’s ok. They were fine. The pools and grounds are gorgeous, the staff were amazing too. I’d definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a very nice, good value, mid range hotel at Railay.

It is an amazing place. The hotel stretches from the east side to the west side of Railay.
