"Excellent value for money"

10.0

Mercedes, the "mama" of the hotel is a lovely person to talk to, and greets you with a lot of warmth. Coca tea was provided and breakfast served from 7-10am, with fresh eggs made to order and fresh pineapple juice. The hotel feels like a house, and the rooms are clean with no significant views. The bathrooms could use an extra towel for the floor though. The hotel is a 15 min walk to the Plaza del armas, centre of cusco, and a couple of good restaurants and markets very close to the hotel, especially the chifa chinese restaurant which really tasty food. We also checked in late after the Inca trail hike and had no problems with someone answering the door. Staff is very kind and nice and they have a microwave in the kitchen to heat your cup of coffee/tea, food etc. On Friday night there was some noise outside on the streets adjacent to our rooms, but not too much that we could not sleep. Light sleepers might reconsider a room facing the street. Would definitely recommend this place to stay for groups of friends and families.

"Friendly, helpful, and caring"

10.0

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon. Check-in was easy - the "mama" was waiting for us outside. The hostel itself is lovely with plenty of rooms and lots of open areas to hang out. Sadly, on the second day I got very sick. The "Mama" called an English-speaking hospital with ambulence pick-up, which was good because I had to have surgery later that day. We ended up staying at Casa de Mama throughout my recovery. The staff was friendly (customizing breakfast according to what the doctor said I could and could not eat), helpful, and caring. The rooms were large with plenty of hot water and good wi-fi. I HIGHLY recommend Casa de Mama. It made me feel safe.

"Wonderful Gem of a Hotel"

10.0

We were there for 3 nights and highly recommend this hotel. Mercedes and my wife chatted about everything. ..we felt like family and not just guests. Can't wait to go back and stay there longer! Location was perfect and clean and safe. We got lots of information that another hotel we stayed at never bothered to tell us....excellent value for the money!

"We do not recommend"

2.0

We must have been given the worst room of the house (It was not cheap, so we have to disagree with most of the reviews here). It was a dark room on the ground floor with a stench of humidity that permeated everything; no ventilation no sunlight, almost a cave (See attached pictures). Hot water runs out quickly so you have to take shower when nobody else in the house is doing the same ting otherwise you'll have to take a cold shower. Wi-fi is very slow. Trust the taxi driver when he tells you that for the same price you can find better hotels around, where you can inspect the rooms with no obligation to take it. Of course you can do this if you haven't booked online. Cusco is a cash only city so you can always bargain your way into a good hotel room.

"Great service"

6.0

The staff were extremely helpful, decent breakfast - bread, eggs, fresh juice, coffee. The rooms are very dated and the bathrooms very small, however it is a very cheap room rate. Approx 15 min walk to the plaza de Armas. Excellent seafood restaurants nearby, open for lunch and cheap.

"As advertised, and considering price, great value."

8.0

The owner was formerly a tour guide... She and her staff care about their guests and will go out of their way to accommodate. She assisted with arranging transportation to and from Ollataytambo, minimizing expense, and making the most of my limited time in the region.

"Very welcoming hotel"

8.0

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is about 10mn walk from the center but it allowed us to discover a local neighborhood and local restaurants.
