"Just like home"

Everyone is greeted by Mama on arrival. You are given a cup of coca tea & Mama sits and talks with you for 10-15 minutes to find out what you want of Peru. She can facilitate tours and is very friendly.

Casa de Mama Cusco 2 is about a 20-min walk or short taxi ride away from the city center, in the direction of the airport. Otherwise, it is an okay place to stay. There is breakfast and wifi, and the a locked door from the street into the complex, so it seems safe. The owner is helpful.

"Great B&B for the money."

8.0

Owner greeted us with coco tea upon arrival. Rooms are nice and well kept (for a 2 to 3 star B&B). Hotel arranged for us to park our car across the street for $3 per day. Hotel is an easy half hour stroll from the main square and a 10 minute walk from the Wanchanq rail station. First Inca Ruler statue and museum/viewing tower just down the street 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Continental breakfast with the addition of eggs was a nice way to start each day. Nice hot water showers each day. Hotel a little noisy at times, as clients arrive at all hours of the night. Several restaurants are nearby, and a convienience store is located on-site. Grocery store located half-way to the main square.

"Great Stay in Cusco!"

10.0

We really appreciated the Mercedes and the staff at Casa De Mama 2 and had a great time. We are from Texas so we really appreciated the heavy wool blankets as we are not used to the cool nights of Cusco. Definitely recommend this hotel- and the one in the sacred valley.

"Close to train, bus, airport, away from main square"

10.0

Mercedes, the proprietress, was very helpful and organized- had the van and driver waiting to take us to our destinations for the day as promised. We are a mature couple and travel a lot- like to be away from the main centers of tourism, thus avoided the hotels right around Plaza de Armas. Mama's was not far off (near the Artisan Market) and was very convenient for catching the bus/train to Aguas Calientes for Machu Picchu. Water was hot, beds better than they looked. Breakfast prompt and fine. Take the map Mercedes gives you to help cab drivers find the spot. She will arrange airport pickup for you when you arrive in Cusco.

"Conveniet to airport, bus, train, artisan mar."

8.0

Mercedes, the proprietress, is very helpful and can help arrange tickets, drivers, and so forth. Hostel is located in Wanchaq, so not right in the center of Cusco with all of the tourist attractions- to me was worth it for the lack of noise at night. Cheap taxi to Plaza de Armas. Neighborhood is medium, but not scary at all- we ate in some of the local restaurants- amazingly good food for a fantastic price. Beds were comfortable, water hot, breakfast lovely-very pleasant accommodations for a hostel- we are a mature couple.

breakfast was just okay, would have liked some variety and fruit, very tired of dry buns, also there was no internet just an old computer for looks would have liked one to use. We were a 5 min cab ride from the main plaza so you always had to have 5 soles handy. Barking dogs all night almost made us leave. Laundry services were much appreciated. Overall it was good place to stay.

"Home-like feeling with humble service"

8.0

We stayed there one night on our way up to Machu Picchu from Lima. We had arranged with Mercedes for a driver to pick-us up at the airport in Cusco. We also had Mercedes arrange the driver service to go the following morning to the train station in Poroy and a pick up service the following evening on our way back from Machu Picchu, and lastly drop off service the following morning from the hotel to the airport. Many details of the itinerary where exchanged all in one email and to our surprise everything worked out seemlessly. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful, genuine, beautiful people, kind, warm, caring, and they made us feel very welcomed and appeared really happy to have us there. The hotel itself is charming, rustic, simple, and there is an indoor patio/garden with beautiful flowers and birds. We all had a wonderful experience. The only easily forgotten issue we had was the low end bathroom. There is only a shower curtain separating the shower area from the rest of the bathroom so the whole bathroom floor gets wet while you shower making it unpleasant to use until it drains and dries. And the hot water takes a while to get warm. Without a doubt, when considering the asking rate for the night, this is truly a great deal.
