Cedar Manor

Our trip was a surprise birthday/anniversary gift from our daughter. Wow wow wow !!! We loved every second as guests of Jonathan and Caroline. They are such lovely hosts. Manor is soooo beautiful and in the perfect location . Everything was superb breakfast was amazing !! We hope to visit again and would highly recommend Cedar Manor to everyone. The decorations, the environment, the ambiance, the vibe, the lovely house, especially the garden, all of these I loved so much. The breakfast is good, allow you to not choosing something you don't like. The car park is very much convenient for guests. And, the service is no doubt excellent.

However, apart from all the positive side, and those points I like, I must be honest to say, both my wife and I could smell a distinct odour in the toilet, like the smell of something going off in the drains. 'Cause the hotel was fully booked and no other rooms, we have to keep the toilet door always closed and use some water to "seal" the drain whenever we don't use it. We "guess" it might be because our room has not been used for a couple of days or may be because of the dampness from the rain a few days ago?...... Anyway, we cannot ignore the smells, and it stood in stark contrast to the service of this hotel. Given that the room rates are relatively high compared to other hotels in the Lake District, I wasn’t entirely satisfied overall. Perhaps if we were staying in some other room in this hotel we will feel perfect.

I chose Cedar Manor for my friend's special 80th birthday treat because it had the best Lake District reviews and, after reading them, my expectations were high. VERY high. It absolutely blew us away. Incredible on every level. I hadn’t really researched what to expect because I assumed all afternoon teas were roughly the same, tiny sandwiches and tiny cakes beautifully presented. Oh no. Not Cedar Manor. We’d been joking with my friend that we were taking her for fish and chips on the jetty… So imagine our faces when, after a tiny elegant cup of butternut squash soup, out arrived: 🐟 a miniature fish 🍟 two tiny chips 🫛 mushy peas 🥄 tartare sauce Honestly, we nearly fell off our chairs laughing “THEY’VE ACTUALLY BROUGHT US FISH AND CHIPS!” It was like posh Borrowers fish and chips for sophisticated tiny people. Superb. THEN came the sandwiches. THEN came the cakes on a three-tier cake stand looking like something from Downton Abbey. And the scones… OH THE SCONES ❤️ Warm. Wrapped in a towel to keep them warm. Served with clotted cream and strawberry jam. There was rhubarb crumble, Eton mess, choux buns with crème anglaise, lemon meringue. I only had a sample of each (diabetic) but did ask for a doggy bag 😉 The tea selection was incredible too. Unlimited tea or coffee offered. I stuck with English Breakfast because I’m not adventurous. My friend chose Earl Grey like the sophisticated lady she is, while my husband, who only ever drinks coffee, ordered something quite exotic - and he loved it. The attention to detail throughout was absolutely outstanding. Jonathan, the owner, was attentive but not intrusive. Exceptional service. The manor itself is beautiful. A boutique hotel, small but perfectly formed. Inside the decor was exquisite. And we particularly loved the bar area, the actual bar itself was carved from wood with gorgeous leather detailing across the front. Absolutely stunning craftsmanship. The grounds were immaculate too — perfectly manicured and beautifully kept. We can categorically say this as we gave it a close inspection sitting on the lovely patio sipping our last glass of fizz for the day 😎 in the warmth of the sun 🌞 And yes, the owners really do pay attention to every little detail 😍 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Lovely, comfortable accommodation. Garden setting is delightful, rooms are decorated beautifully and hosts are very friendly and welcoming. Ample parking with a great location close to all the beauty of the Lake District. Highly recommend.

Fantastic House , Garden and Staff! Room was very romantic, Well equipt and clean. Easy to walk 2 minutes to town centre and the house has good space for privat parking! Price pr. Night was acceptable and the Afternoon tea we ordered was exellent! House is situated in quite area!

Fantastisk hage, nydelige rom og et særdeles hyggelig vertskap. Afternoon tea var et høydepunkt og anbefales på det sterkeste!!

We had a fabulous afternoon tea at the Cedar Manor Hotel. The owners of the hotel served us and were absolutely delightful and friendly. The food and furnishings are first class. I would highly recommend staying here or having afternoon tea.

Our hostade made us feel very welcome and was a pleasure to talk to; the sticky carpet local clubing scene information was indispensable! Our rooms were clean, immaculately tidy, fitted with all the mod cons and very quite. There was a varied set of tasty choices for breakfast. We would definitely consider staying again.
