Star and Garter Hotel

What a little gem of a place and the quality of the room and service was far in excess of what you would expect for a 3 star hotel. The staff were really friendly and the assistant manager was a little pocket rocket although her singing skills are somewhat iffy. The housekeeper gave us an amazing breakfast and all the bar staff were so friendly. Due to this being a listed building there is no lift so those with any difficulty with stairs may struggle. A good affordable choice with Edinburgh only 15 minutes on the train.

This place is amazing!! Room 5, top floor, comfortable double with en-suite. Sparkling clean, comfortable, warm and cosy. All toiletries individually packaged (covid safe), housekeeping every day, every need is catered for - biscuits, chocs and sweeties - loved it! Restaurant food is plentiful, hot and well presented. Lots of choice, again, nothing is too much trouble. Prices are great, service is like arriving home - every member of staff were so very friendly - we're going back with the family next month it was that good!! I cannot recommend this place enough

WHAT A FIND - amazing food too cannot fault

We loved this hotel! Beautiful little place with very friendly staff. We really enjoyed staying in Linlithgow as opposed To Edinbrough. It was as a great launching place for all our adventures in the area. Close to grocery and restaurants. The hotel food and bar were also amazing. We loved the easy access to the train right bedding the hotel. It was the best way to get to edinbrough for a day.

Great location to take the train into the city.

What a great place, rooms fantastic everything you need, the staff and the manager making sure we had a great stay, situated at the head of the main street, can't wait to visit again. fantastic breakfast.

The manager of the ‘hotel’ was extremely helpful and hospitable. This review is no reflection on the staff but the premises. the rooms are located above a pub. Whilst they are nicely decorated, there is little information available about the services offered; the room has no air conditioning and we spent two uncomfortable nights due to the humidity; the cleaner forgot to replenish the bottles of water and take dirty towels; breakfast choices were limited; loud music and punters until early hours.
