"Revitalised hotel"

10.0

A nice friendly hotel. Recently all done up after the hotel was destroyed by fire many years ago. Rooms are nicely decorated. Only criticism is the lighting in bedroom could be better. Would suggest bedside lights are changed to adjustable to allow to read a book etc

"My stay in Linlithgow"

8.0

I stayed overnight at the Star and Garter after a couple of nights at North Berwick As soon as I walked in to the hotel I was greeted by a very helpful and friendly member of staff called Jonathan and was also given further help and the room keys by another approachable member called Anne who offered to carry my bags up the stairs I felt at ease straight away The barman at night was also polite and friendly athough I found the drink prices quite expensive even for a hotel A vodka and soda was just under £5 I can't remember paying as much as that in any other hotel

"Exceptional"

10.0

In Linlithgow High St. near to shops, bars , Palace & Loch etc. Good double room, very welcoming & helpful staff such as Gillian at breakfast. marked down slightly on comfort just because, I personally, found the mattress rather hard.

"Good"

4.0

I should have believed the earlier review ref the green light in the room. The Wifi was non existant so couldn't get any work done in my room. Only offered continental breakfast, which was very strange as they served evening meals. I found the price of the room very expensive for what was on offer.

"Unpleasant"

4.0

This was not really a hotel, but rather a 'bar with rooms above'. Small, unpleasant room that was not worth the money, unfortunately. I think perhaps the high reviews may be for the bars downstairs, which seemed very popular.

"Don't Plan an Early Start."

6.0

Couldn't find anyone in the morning when we wanted to check out. All except one exit door said it would set off the alarm if we went out it. We finally left the key in the room and chanced the one door. It felt like we were sneaking out. We left at 7:30 so it wasn't that early.

"Excellent service and great location"

10.0

Received warm and friendly welcome from hotel manager (Micheal , I think) on arrival and later in the bar. Room was spotless with good facilities, good decor and nice touches - the Tunnocks tea cakes(!!) , bottles of water. Similarly next morning Gillian who was in charge of breakfast was excellent - attentive, friendly and helpful in directing us back through Linlithgow to our route - we were walking the John Muir Way. This was the best night and hotel we had experienced on our route and to date ( where we are now in Edinburgh) . All in all we were very happy with all aspects of our stay in Linlithgow- all credit to the staff who themselves a credit to the hotel .
