"No full breakfast"

2.0

Staff were in a bit if a state. The breakfast chef had been removed as a savings by the new owners. So no full breakfast. Cold indigestible crosants. An apple or kiwi and juice with coffee or tea. That was called a continental breakfast. It was appalling. No manager there to complain to. No refund offered. Staff seemed in shock.

"Charm and service in small traditional Pub/Inn"

10.0

Great base for linlithgow tour, rooms are clean, neutrally decorated while also being attractive. Four star rooms over a charming pub and restaurant. Breakfasts are cooked to order and excellent, as was the two evening meals I had in the restaurant after a day of touring. The charming nature of the hotel means there is no lift and all rooms are on top floor so while I love this place it isn't suitable for those with mobility issues

"Friendly and well-located."

8.0

An historic hotel, tastefully refurbished, in a good location adjacent to the railway station and high street. A good selection of well-kept beers is available. Decent food at reasonable prices.

"Top quality pub hotel beside the railway station"

8.0

Very helpful and friendly staff, even when very busy. Unusual "blank check" bistro breakfast arrangements, and excellent quality. Could not be more convenient for access to trains and the centre of town. My en suite room was clean and pleasant enough, but the big downers were: totally inadequate lighting - not enough to read or see a keyboard; no desk or table on which to place a laptop, papers or to write; loud air-conditioning noise most of the night; poor and intermittent wireless internet connection.

"3 days stay Aug"

10.0

Stayed here for 3 days at the Fringe. Right next to Linlithgow station, only 15 mins into the city. Hotel is right next to station, but train noise was insignificant. Enjoyed my breakfast in the bistro

"Great hotel in a good location "

10.0

If you are using public transportation and want to stay outside of Glasgow or Edinburgh, then the Star and Garter would be a great location for you. It is literally right outside the train station. If you are looking for a good location to take day trips by car, then this is a good location for you as well. The Star and Garter has some parking available and it is outside of major cities, so you could take the train into either Glasgow or Edinburgh instead of navigating them by vehicle. We ate at the restaurant and the food was good. Breakfast took a little time the next morning, but it was delicious. I loved the room. The bed was comfortable and we had a great view over the city street. There is a Tesco next door and Linlithgow Palace and Loch are a short walk away.
