Nice spa

The breakfast and staff weren't up to standard.

The spa has been refurbished and is nice

I have been coming here for years and used to be a member of the spa and gym. It has been getting very tatty and I was hopeful that when it was taken over by Montigo Resorts it would go back to its former quality. Unfortunately not. There was a leak in the roof of the restaurant with buckets catching the water, the room was a bit tatty and the photos for the “Junior Suite” were of two different rooms- if you want the one with the free-standing bath in the bedroom you have to specify this on booking- I was very disappointed to not get the room I was expecting. The water ran cold then finally got (there are notices saying you have to run the water for a while) - this wasn’t a problem but it went cold again and never went hot, not enough for a full bath, had to top up with kettles of water. I got a discount with Booking but it was still grossly overpriced for what it was, I won’t be staying here again. Such a shame, as it has the potential to be a fabulous country house hotel. Very disappointed.

Location and comfortable rooms

The pool was freezing cold and staff did not inform us of this neither did they offer any compensation such as a complimentary drink. This is the second time in a row we have stayed here and this has happened! Spa was overcrowded and people found it impossible to use what facilities were available such as the hot tub or sauna rooms as they were overcrowded! As people found the pool too cold there was limits to what you could do

Country House feel. Loved outdoor spa but for some reason they wouldn't take cover off outdoor section of pool which was disappointing. Limited seating around pool for relaxing and all facilities quite small so filled up quickly when more people around. Lunch and dinner were delicious but breakfast mediocre. All staff were helpful and friendly. Bedroom spacious.

we paid a lot of money for a top room, but this is quite tired needs updating, only freeview no other tv channels

the hotel was a bit tired needs updating, there is no food served in restaurant for dinner you only have room service which is not acceptable, not a lot of food choice, booked this trip for my husbands birthday and to have a relax. We went out during the day and when we got back our room had not been cleaned which considering there were not may guests this was not good. The breakfast was nice although if you had a full english you could not have porridge unless you paid extra!! otherwise only cornflakes. I feel this hotel is trying to be something it is not. The jacuzzi which was outside did not have lights on which is quite dangerous, the light6 come on if you move, not a good hotel and would not recommend to anyone steer clear, i feel sorry for any bride getting married here!!! we shall not be going back thats for sure. Very disappointing stay.
