clean and nicely decorated room with a very comfortable bed. A lovely healthy full English breakfast with excellent service. A warm and friendly place to stay we will definitely be going back.

Mark and Jane were very nice and help for activities and where the good pubs are. They even did my laundry so I didn't have to! Very kind.

We had a very positive experience at the Thornbank Inn in Windermere. Jane and Mark were very welcoming and the Inn is very conveniently located between Windermere and Bowness so we had a good selection of restaurants close by. We arrived very late on our first night and Mark went beyond the requirements of hospitality to offer us a late "supper" of scrambled eggs on toast with tea and coffee as we had traveled up from London on the bus with nothing to eat since leaving London 9 hours earlier. The accommodations at the inn were quiet and comfortable and the room was spotless and well appointed. We felt snug and happy to be in such nice surroundings. Jane and Mark also arranged for a couple of Lakes tours for us and had a taxi waiting for us on the morning of our departure to take us to the bus station. If we ever have a chance to get back to the Lakes district, we will certainly return to the Thornbank. A wonderful experience!

The service we received was outstanding from the moment we arrived until we left. Nothing was too much trouble. We mentioned our TV was not working and by the time we arrived back later in the day it had been sorted. The breakfast was beautifully cooked and the poached eggs were fantastic every day. It is perfectly situated for restaurants and the lake. Would certainly recommend this guest house and hope to return there soon.

The hotel was in a nice quiet neighborhood, the rooms were clean and comfortable, breakfast was amazing, but was reasonable. The parking area is very cramped but street parking is free and easy. Jane was very friendly and gave us great advice on things to do around the area. Her home-made marmalade was the highlight of breakfast! Some reviewers have mentioned that they would have liked the breakfast timing to be more flexible - we found that they were happy to provide a continental breakfast (croissant, roll, fruit, yogurt) as room service or packed to take away, earlier or later.

Very polite excellent guest house and lovely view

The perfect stay in the perfect location! Mark and Jane are the perfect hosts- very knowledgable about the local area, and nothing is too much trouble. Very friendly welcome and goodbye. Most amazing cooked breakfast we have ever had- easy location to walk to either Bowness or windemere (about 15 mins) but it is on a hill. But it's a very pleasant walk. There is nothing we could fault and would definitely stay here again.

Booked a room for two nights at the guest house. It's ideally situated with both Windermere & Bowness town centre about 15 minutes by foot. The guest house is very well maintained. Breakfast was wholesome and I'd recommend this place for anyone looking out for a place to stay for a couple of days.

Great stay, great location. Friendly and food first class.
