"Nothing like the pictures or description"

2.0

walk up and there is a sign that says the pool is closed. The room says it has a queen bed and it's more like a double. Our room is way back on the side by a run down garden w rabbit's. Room smells like mold and cologne. Super disappointed to pay $90 USD.

"Great historic mansion made into interesting hotel"

10.0

Due to late arrival at the Managua airport, we arrived very late (midnight) in Granada at the Mansion de Chocolate - but no problem since the night desk person (David) was very helpful and efficient. Parking was secure - offsite - and manned 24/7. The hotel itself is an interesting converted historic colonial mansion with great second floor balcony rooms with rooftop views overlooking lush courtyards. Private Spanish lessons are spread out on the first floor which gives one the feeling of local involvement. The pool is fantastic (with bar) and comes complete with 4 resident ducks. Breakfast was absolutely the best we've experienced in Latin America. The on-site Chocolate Museum which offers classes in making chocolate is super. The hotel concierge, Tony, is helpful, friendly, bi-lingual, knowledgeable, and a huge plus for the hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

"Hotel looks just like the Pictures."

10.0

Super cute hotel and well managed. The owner (an American) was actually there and we got to met him. He's a very nice man. Discounted services at the spa. It's extremely cheap. A massage for two, pedi, and facial for one cost a total of $37 USD. There's a Chocolate Museum in the Hotel where you can take a tour of how it's made and also make your own chocolate bar. Free breakfast. Nice clean up to date decorative rooms. Lots of nice art work throughout the hotel. It doesn't even feel like a hotel it's so comfortable and open in the common areas. The hotel locks the security gate at the front door for the hotel's protection, which is comforting. Even the little white and brown dog that's in the pictures of the hotel was there. Will be recommending this place to everyone. The staff were generous enough to give recommendations on local restaurants and things to do.

"Choco-licious"

8.0

Nice quiet accommodation off of the park. No noise in the back. Pool, massages, chocolate anything. Elegant place that has some history in an old colonial setting. Good at the price I paid on a promotion and would do again. Great buffet breakfast with all sorts of variety.

"Great Hotel in Perfect Location"

8.0

Staff was excellent especially Tony who took great care of all of us. We rented 3 rooms for 2 nights at the hotel. Breakfast was outstanding as well as the staff for breakfast. It was in an excellent location close to the Central Park but quiet. The courtyards were wonderful as well. Only complaint would be outside ground maintenance, could use a little extra "tender loving care". All in all, a very special place with the added bonus of complimentary 30 minute treatments include with every night stay per room. Excellent marketing tool.

"Fantastic Historic Very Interesting Hotel"

8.0

I stayed at the Mansion de Chocolate Thursday and Friday nights. I really liked this place. It was very 'quirky' and I love that! They decorated the place with lots of art from local artists from around Nicaragua and Central America. They explained some of the history of the house and the area. They had a chocolate museum and classes on how to make chocolate (sorry I didn't have time to explore). They even had a spa with special chocolate treatments (half hour free per day) and very sorry I didn't get a chance to try that either. They had a beautiful pool area and a bar out there. The house itself was gorgeous! It was old, so had some of the usual things to expect (creaky floors, noise from others outside carried), but rooms were large and fairly comfortable. Sitting outside on the veranda was nice in the morning before it got hot. AC was decent. Only thing I would have liked in the room was a comfortable chair to sit in. Yes, there was a chair, but it was hard wood and not really very comfortable. Bed was nice, Hot water in shower, bathroom was nice and shower was large.
