Lovely staff, perfect setting, dog friendly, clean comfortable breakfast superb

I thought £25 per dog per night was excessive but otherwise good value for money

"Professional friendly welcoming staff who actually to all they can to accommodate requests. Special shoutout to Maddi, w"

Cosy traditional country gastro pub atmosphere

Parking a little tight, overflow car park in an adjacent field that would benefit from having a hard standing.

"A very good choice"

9.0

We very much enjoyed our stay at The Black Lion. A pub that mixes traditional and modern, it is well-priced, friendly, and comfortable. Access to the rooms is up a long straight set of stairs. We had a standard double room and found it well sized and nicely decorated, although our room overlooked a roof (other reviewers have noted some rooms with lovely views over the Green). Breakfast was excellent, and the pub, although we didn’t use it, looked great. Location-wise, The Black Lion is across the road from the National Trust’s Melford Hall, and 2 minutes from lovely Holy Trinity Church with its small collection of medieval stained glass. Some parking spots are available on the property, with more on nearby streets or on the Green across the road.

Our Sunday dinner was not as good as we hoped.

Very good central location and nice place to walk along the main street. Great outlook from our bedroom over the grassed expanse of the village green.

Wi-fi and telephone signal was poor.
