Cosy hotel, super nice staff, and good breakfast

We were unfortunate to get the room at the very top, which meant that knocking your head into beams was a constant. I’m not sure if this particular room we had actually should be a hotel room at all given the clunkiness.

Lovely friendly staff and great food. Good value for money.

Need to watch your head for the beams/low ceilings in places. Doesn't have its own parking, so have to park on the road.

Some parts of the hotel looked a bit tired, a new carpet for the stairs and landing. My bathroom could do with a freshen up but everthing was super clean and comfortable.

Thermostat in my shower was either really hot or really cold but mentioned it to the staff who saod that they would look into it

Staff were super friendly and helpful, room was clean and well-equipped. Private garden at rear for guests only was a vast improvement on the roadside benches out front! Good location for our stopover from Scotland, and handy for driving to the Lakes or Dales.

Breakfast was reasonable but there were two issues that make or break a pub / hotel cooked breakfast for me: no hash browns, and no items within the breakfast could be swapped, which just leads to food waste.

Friendly staff. The salad was actually served with vingarette.

We were walking the Pennine Way & needed to get a taxi from Garrigill to the hotel. I rang them beforehand to ask if they could recommend a taxi service, they said they couldn't. After some pressing I was given a name, who it turned out wasn't working that week! It took an hour & a half to get a taxi the next morning. No fruit was served at breakfast, because we were told there was too much wastage. Strange that almost every other establishment seems to he able to solve this not intraitable problem. The proffered take away lunch was quite parsomonious. No fruit or cake, as other establishments offer & water in a small glass bottle (not much good if your hiking).

Warm welcome as always from the staff especially with my late arrival. Excellent food and nice comfortable bed. I've stayed here 5 times now and its my first choice whenever I stay in the area every easter.
