A bit old and dated

Pleasant team on reception, hotel well located and facilities fine.

Room was on the smallish size and the first thing you encounter in front of you upon entering the room, is the bed which didnt feel right.

Good location near the city centre

Room wasn’t in the main hotel but out in the car park. Stains on furniture.

Very disappointing. I stay here half a dozen times a year due to proximity to work and ease of walking into York for a meal. Usually rooms are ok, bar one blip which was quickly resolved by the previous reception staff. This time they tried to locate me in the outside rooms, though quite unclear about where the room actually was, ended up wandering around looking for signs. After finding it was surprised to see what was effectively a small cupboard with one small and out of reach curtained Velux window, peeling paint and no working lights in the room. They did agree to move me quite quickly which is appreciated, however the new room was equally challenging to locate, up and down multiple flights of precipitous stairs. The new room has windows but only the one in the bathroom opens, about 2”, and is right next to the toilet. The others are all painted shut and behind broken double glazing. Looks straight into the road, no privacy opaques. A large fan is provided but noisy so cannot run at night. Carpet rail into the bathroom isn’t fixed down so a bit of a trip hazard. Did get a parking space, which was miraculous as usually there are none. Mould in the bathroom, paint job covering it up, odd marks behind the mirror, missing blinds with pully left behind, looks superficially clean otherwise, beds are comfortable, huge tv, hair dryer, toiletries from Crabtree Evelyn. Feels like they need to invest in some basic maintenance and consideration of how the room is being used. Breakfast was poor, inedible rubbery scrambled egg, revolting coffee. I was staying next week but will be cancelling and staying elsewhere from now on, too exhausting to always have to ask for a decent room. Not a discount rate by any means!

Good access to city centre.

Our bedroom had a large window,obviously on ol shop window, and the the public were on the pavement immediately outside our ground floor window.

Reception staff were friendly and welcoming

Hot tap was broken and the shower was leaking. The room wasn't clean

Location

The whole place was looking tatty, we have to move rooms as bed was missing casters so bed not level, floor was uneven, then the new upgraded room ensuite was I need of repair, because when you took a shower a lot of the water eneded up on the floor because of the shower screen.

Location was great. The staff were lovely. Held our luggage while we were too early to book in & held it after check out. Supplied extra milk & coffee on request. Had a luggage rack & magnifying mirror in the bathroom. Organised our taxis.

Breakfast was disappointing. Bed was hard. Bathroom had substantial water damage. The glass covering the bath/shower was insufficient. Bar staff had to be chased up Toilet didn’t flush properly
