Trinco Blu by Cinnamon

The hotel is situated on a beautifully clean and pretty beach. The facilities are simple but clean and well maintained. The staff are particularly friendly and welcoming and made our stay extremely enjoyable. Diving is particularly good in Trincomalee and the on site staff are extremely good especially the snorkeling at Pigeon Island. Although not advertised they also arranged our jeep safari to see the elephant herds in the nearby national park which you should not miss.

Went to the hotel around 9.45pm and service is excellent and room service also very good.

Originally we only wanted a short break on our round the island trip. However, the hotel offered such a relaxing ambiance, amazing breakfast buffet and super friendly staff that we decided to scrap the remainder of our plan and stayed here instead!

Beautiful beach and nice pool. As a family of 6 we enjoyed the pool most of all. It would be lovely if they had interconnecting rooms or rooms for families, but we managed to get two rooms side by side. The breakfast buffet was nice, kids had many things to choose from. We had been travelling a lot so we did decide to stay at the hotel and enjoy the beach and pool. One night we paid extra for the buffet. Not a great selection but enough. Buffet is quite expensive for what you get. The other night we ate at their cafe the crab and we enjoyed that more. Food is pricey here but so is everything unless you go into Trinco town and eat local. Staff are friendly and more than happy to help. Overall it was a great mini break that the family needed.

Trinco Blu is one of the Cinnamon group of hotels. Having stayed at the Grand, Lakeside, Red and Wild, I had high expectations. Perhaps unreasonable expectations! Positives: Perfect situation right on the beautiful Uppavelli Beach. Beautiful swimming pool. Engaging Staff, especially the guys at the pool and one of the maintenance men. Comfortable bed. Clean bed linens and towels replaced daily. Constant hot water in the bathroom. Negatives: The bedroom and bathroom presented as grubby, with rusting bits of metal around the shower. Some tiles were cracked and dirty looking. In the balcony the seating cushion was dirty and the table had bird poo on it and it was still there after 13days. While the staff at the bar were very pleasant, there were not enough staff on shift. So, no barman around mid morning when we wanted a beer. Took ages to get a pitcher of cocktails at the pre dinner time because the one barman chose to serve five other orders before dealing with ours. Those five orders were placed after ours but were easier. More staff....that could have been avoided! Maintenance crashing and banging from 8.00am. Safe had a faulty keypad.

Staff helpful and friendly. Although room rather small for two, the decor made it look spacious and the view of sea and pool was comforting. Had a daily walk on beach. However, beach need to be kept clean due to rubbish pile up and barking dogs running around. This is an important aspect especially for tourists. Need improvement. Suggest serving local coffee in addition to Nescafé.

Trinco Blu is a beautiful hotel on an even more beautiful beach. The beach chalet room had direct access to the beach and was very spacious and clean. The staff were very accommodating and polite. The food at Trinco Blu was overpriced and underwhelming, but the local area doesn't have much else to offer so there isn't much variety. The wifi is free but slow and spotty. The bed was spacious but very hard.
