This was our 2nd visit to this lovely hotel. What makes it special is the staff. Our waiter Nuwan was amazing and really looked after us but all the staff are friendly and helpful. The location is superb, the grounds lead directly onto the beach, perfect for nice cooling breeze, plenty of sun beds and dining areas The rooms are spacious, we had a high floor deluxe with sea view, however, they are looking a bit tired and could do with modernising, they are kept very clean and clean sheets & towels everyday. The food is great, I don't eat red meat or fish but always plenty of choices. Breakfast particularly good. Easy to get around, we used local buses to go to Galle, Unawatuna, 100 rupees a journey approx 25p.bus stop, turn left out of hotel approx 100 yards. We also used trains to go to Galle and Mirissa. Express train one in a morning easy to download timetable. We visited Ella with a local driver We walked on the beach (turn right) to central beach padt where the turtles are and found fantastic snorkelling where the boats are. There is an English couple (Lol & Helen) who live in Hikkaduwa and often come to hotel for the evening entertainment. They are really kind & friendly and managed to obtain medicine from pharmacy for me when I became unwell. They are great for local knowledge Just ask the staff to point them out, happy to help anybody. Hoping to come back next year. We also caught the train to Mirrisa on the express. Easy to download timetable

We stayed in the citrus hotel in Hikkaduwa, the bathrooms are an absolute health hazard, they are covered in thick black mould. When we asked the hotel manager to move us to a cleaner room he told us that it was pointless moving rooms because all the bathrooms had “ black fungus “ and he was unable to remove it. We complained to our travel company, Mercury Holidays, the manager told them it was just staining. We submitted video evidence clearing showing the black mould, Mercury Hoildays said the manager had cleaned the bathroom and they continue to send customers to this hotel. I would strongly advise against staying at this hotel. You will never see any bathroom photos on their website.

Dammi - is water aerobic - he is very funny and good trainer for water pool games and volleyball! We were so interesting and funny with him! Hotel is good, nice ocean view and good stuff! We were so pleased to be here!
