Hotel Tugu Malang

The Tugu is a great hotel - a really peaceful little oasis. Staff were all excellent - friendly and efficient. Rooms are delightful - comfortable and with real personality. Restaurant food delicious and varied to suit all tastes. Overall highly recommended.

The staff were so very helpful and friendly. Manda gave us a wonderful tour of the hotel and explained the history of the rooms and the different collections. I booked the spa and had a lovely massage and body scrub.

Very nice hotel. Location is good which is walking distance to train station.

Really enjoyed our room and facilities: plenty of sitting areas, free afternoon tea/coffee & small tasty Indonesian traditional snacks - menu is different everyday incl. breakfast (alternates between buffet & ala carte of Indonesian & European cuisine) - It is very significant esp we stayed for 6 days (didn’t get bored with same menu of breakfast everyday). Every corner of room is full of antiques displays with interesting history/story. We were interested in free hotel tour (afternoon) unfortunately we just didn’t have time- already busy with own agenda. So homey like own place - didn’t feel like hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. We were given free small bag of coffee (from hotel’s own coffee plantation and samples of mini bread (from hotel’s own bakery) as souvenirs - it was a such nice gesture/memorable for us. Never happened before with other hotels we stayed in the past. Definitely the best hotel we ever stayed!

The Bima ride on the train to Malang was only one hour and forty five minutes. The station is only a three minute walk. Upon arrival we were offered a cool drink and a free 15 minute massage. The Tugu hotel is steeped in history and tradition. The presentation and write ups need better lighting. Much of the explanations are faded and are hard to read. The food was amazing. They staff did have a difficult time understanding my gluten free intolerance. I was able to have other food to eat. But be aware they use soy in everything and white vinegar for dressings. Ice cream is pretty much the only dessert you could eat beside bananas flambe. The hotel is situated by a rotary, which can be quite load with motorcycles and other traffic. The 4:00pm tea is vey nice. A piano player plays short little tunes, the only down side is the cigarette smoking from out side floats in. The hotel should be a completely smoke free. Designate a spot out side the front left or right of the entrance of the hotel. During dinner the smell of cigars sneaks in from the bar. It is the only hotel that serves alcohol. The gift shop has many unique things to purchase. Especially the jewelry. The rooms are spacious and comfortable for two people. The bed was very nice to sleep in with two different styles of pillows to sleep with ( light or firm). The departure gift of fresh bread and sample of coffee was a nice touch. The Hotel drove us back tot he station for no charge. Staff was very accomodating.

Friendly staffs welcome you when you arrived. The hotel is situated at the heart of the city. The hotel made you feel like home in Indonesia and great display of local traditional household things. Great selection of Breakfast, you can choose from display or order from menu.

Great stay, great hotel, excellent service. Would stay here again.
