This hotel was so incredibly amazing in every regard. We arrived and were provided a wonderful welcome drink. We booked a western king bed with an outer room for tatami mat as there were 3 of us. The rooms were very spacious - and had large sitting area and a massage chair. The Nespresso coffee machine in room was fantastic- but the coffee machine in lobby that opened at 6 AM became my best friend. The baths in this hotel on the roof were absolutely beautiful with incredible views of the mountains. We booked the private bath too- and this would be fantastic for a celebration as had beer and champagne. The food in this hotel was 5 star and so artfully presented. It was delicious and we had a choice of Japanese or western breakfast. The Japanese breakfast was amazing. They make their own apple juice which was so yummy. The staff at this hotel were so polite, accommodating, helpful, kind, and the absolute best. This was truly a special find- and I would recommend this hotel to one and all. It was very special. Very close to train station, very quiet, and close to the Heiwa no Oka Park (largest brass Buddha) and snow monkey park. We actually walked down from Snow Monkey park to hotel thru Shiba Onsen. I loved Yudanaka, Yamanouchi, and Hôtel Tsubakino!

"Traditional ryokan near train station"

8.0

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Tsubakino. It was within a 5 minute walk from the train station, the staff were friendly and accommodating of two vegetarian travelers for breakfast. We rented a private onsen on the rooftop. Wearing Yucata robes was fun. The beds were on the floor on tatami mats. Though not as soft as I would have liked, for one night it was a real fun experience. The breakfast was traditional, high quality and fresh. I would stay here again!

"Great Location and Onsen"

8.0

We recently stayed here for one night while visiting the Snow Monkey Park. First of all, the location is fantastic. It's less than a three minute walk from the main train station and it's also located right by the bus stop which you take to the Snow Monkey Park entrance. I'd estimate that the bus ride took about a 15 min (maybe even less) because we actually walked the whole way back from the park instead of the bus, and it took us about 30 min. The staff was incredibly nice in the hotel. They didn't speak much English, but they tried to accommodate us the entire time and were always warm and friendly. We were greeted on arrival with a choice of free drink, while we sat next to a cozy fire in the lobby to warm up. We booked the Japanese room, which was very spacious in size. We had a small issue with the heat and a request for an extra cleaning in our bathroom, but the staff was on top of the issues immediately, and took care of everything in minutes. We ended up booking the private onsen on the roof, which is definitely recommended! We were there during a pretty bad snow storm, and it was a very unique experience to be in the onsen, as snow was falling around us. The next morning, breakfast was included in our rate. We were positioned in our own blocked off booth, and were given a HUGE spread from a traditional Japanese breakfast. Though the food was very foreign to us, we did try most items, and were very impressed by the classy presentation of each of the items. Overall, great experience at the Hotel Tsubakino!

"Great Stay"

8.0

The Tsubakino is a lovely ryokan with a helpful and thoughtful staff conveniently located near the train station. We booked a Japanese style room which was light and large and pleasantly furnished. We took advantage of the private bath which was well-equipped and delightful though the directions were confusing. The bathroom amenities were sparse. The dinner was average for a ryokan while the breakfast was large and tasty. You can easily catch a bus or taxi to the Monkey Park. We were pleased with our experience and would happily stay there again.

"Great experience "

10.0

We had 2 nights at Hotel Tsubakino while visiting the snow monkeys. We had a Japanese style room which was a fun experience and enjoyed taking our meals in our yukatas. All the staff were very friendly and although they didn’t speak much English we managed to make ourselves understood and to understand them. We booked to have dinners and Japanese style breakfast at the hotel. Dinner was served in a private room one night and in our bedroom the second night. Food was great. Many small courses and a fun experience if you haven’t had this style of Japanese meal before. You definitely won’t go hungry. The dinners and the breakfast were different for each of our two nights. We also booked the private onsen so that we could enjoy the experience as a couple. Make sure you book when you check in or first thing in the morning to get your 50 minute slot. (Around 2000 yen). Otherwise the hotel’s free onsen looked good but, as is usual, has separate sections for men and women. The hotel is very clean. It is close to the station - only a few minutes walk. There is not much in Yudanaka. There is a nice coffee shop -Chamise ( their apple french toast is great) and a few restaurants but we were glad we had booked dinner at the hotel. We had a walk to a temple to see a huge statue for world peace. It is easy to get to the snow monkeys from the hotel as the bus runs from Yudanaka station. Would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the snow monkeys.

This was my favorite part of our honeymoon in Japan. The hotel is in an excellent location, steps from the train station and with several restaurants in walking distance. The private onsen is perfect for the shy types and the breakfast is AMAZING. Super sweet and helpful staff.

"The best of them"

10.0

In my business travels I’ve been to dozens of hotels including luxury 5 stars. Yet this little hotel, with its perfect serenity and incredible meals is the best I’ve ever experienced. I lodged there during my family trip to Japan this summer. It’s close to the bus terminal in an unassuming building in a small town but the perfect service, the incredible private hot bath (onsen) and the large rooms makes it a very worthwhile destination for people looking for perfection.
