Villa L'Auberge

The villa that we stayed in had a great ocean view. Nice spacious floorplan. Only drawback was the train that ran pretty much all night (about once an hour or so) and our room phones didn’t work so anytime we needed to call the front desk we had to use our cell. But overall nice place to stay if you want beach access and still be close to all the amusement parks

The Villas at Del Mar are by far the best deal you can find for accommodations in Del Mar. A one bedroom condo, with a kitchenette, full size fridge, pull out sofa bed, nice bathroom, and a balcony with a table and seating for 6 looking out to the sea PLUS access to the L'Auberge Hotel facilities is what you get at a price lower than almost anyplace else in town. When we stayed it was half the cost of a single room at L'Auberge with more space and similar amenities. Wonderful sunset views from your balcony can't be beat. The villas are a short but steep walk down to the beach. and a short, but steep walk up to the main plaza area of Del Mar where there are ample shops and restaurants. It is also a short drive to Vons to stock up your kitchen if you are there more than a couple of days. Access to L'Auberge Hotel pool/jacuzzi, and gym are a great bonus to the villas. The pool is heated and a great temperature for kids and adults. The jacuzzi is clean and hot. Additionally, you can borrow beach equipment from the hotel, including chairs and boogie boards. The only problem we encountered was that the wifi did not work at anytime during our stay of several days. We spoke with the general manage and with tech support but nothing seemed to get things fixed. Unfortunately, it seemed the onus was on us to work it through with remote tech support, something I was not willing to spend time on during my vacation. Each villa has one assigned parking spot. Generally this works out but we did run into an issue with someone parking in other people's spots. Each car has a pass with their villa number so it can be sorted out pretty easily. It is also important to note that the villas DO NOT HAVE AC. This was not a problem in the spring with the sea breeze but could be a problem on hot days in the summer. They do have heat throughout and a gas fire place in the living room for colder months. Finally, the villas are right next to the train tracks so there is some noise from passing trains but that is true of every location in Del Mar that is anywhere near the beach as the train runs along the coastline. Most of the time the only sound is that of the crashing waves. Overall, I would choose the villas for my next family visit to Del Mar.

I'm a travel writer so I travel extensively and almost always have left positive reviews of the places I've stayed on TripAdvisor. Unfortunately, this is my first negative one. I stayed at Villa L'Auberge while I was in the area for college visits with my son. The villa we were assigned had a sticky brown substance in a couple places on the carpet that took an abrasive scrubbing to remove from my toes. In addition, some of the bathroom sink drawers were either loosely on their tracks or missing a knob. Lastly, due to severe storms and tornado warnings near our home, we had to check out a day early. While I understand that some places can not issue a refund for checking out a night early, no consideration was made for the poor start to our 3 night stay, nor our need to leave a night early due to weather (as it is normally with a hotel company - something to note if you think you might encounter the same). The positives of the place are the spaciousness of the suites compared to a hotel room, and the mini-kitchen is very handy, especially when traveling with children. In addition, the villa location next to L'Auberge resort is a nice plus in that it allows for access to their pool and facilities.

We stayed at villas and had an excellent time. We had a beautiful view of the ocean and our villa was very updated . Del Mar is great town and everything is within walking distance.Just a great place to stay. Also we left some important papers there and the general manager was so helpful in getting them back for us. Everyone was great to us . Like I said it was like Heaven on earth

Or stay at the villas was excellent great views of the ocean staff was friendly walking distance to great restaurants and a stone throw away from the ocean highly recommend! We also enjoyed the Torrey Pines hike which is close by can’t wait to go back.

Nice comfortable condo. Phone never worked. Bathtub drain didn't work so you could take a bath but the maintenance guy brought a stopper to fix it. Train noise was a bit louder than I expected and you have to leave the windows open because no air conditioning. Still waiting for a print out of my bill. Resort fees added a lot and we never even used the pool or fitness center. Pricing should be more up front.

Loved the property, Just not happy about the 4pm check in, room was not ready until 4pm, and a 10AM check out? That is to early for check out.

Staff at the hotel where very accommodating and helpful they gave us access to a gazebo by the pool to wait for our room to become available. Room was clean and the location is convenient to everything. The windows are also strong enough to keep out the train noise.

Our timeshare exchange allowed us to stay a week at Villa L'Auberge in one of the 12 villas. One parking spot was included along with 2 housekeeping visits. The ocean view was wonderful. There were many different kinds of great restaurants within walking distance.The Farmers Market on Saturdays from 1-4pm was a delightful addition. The best part was walking on the beach during the day and early evening. Staff is friendly and helpful. The heater worked well on those cold nights.

Room was gorgeous, the views spectacular, and the people working there were super friendly and helpful. If you stay, just be prepared for walking up stairs and hillsides.Did not use the pool this time, but the pool, spa, and lounging areas are among the best. You can look out over the Pacific while relaxing in the pool. We come every year, and it never disappoints.
