Camera molta spaziosa e con vista sulla piazza del mercato, bagno pulito. Letto molto grande e comodo. Personale molto disponibile e buona la connessione WiFi. L'hotel è a pochi passi dalla fermata del bus che arriva da York e vicinissimo al castello e all'inizio del Cleveland Way

Non c'è il frigorifero in camera

Room OK, evening meal and breakfast good quality and choice, easy access to other local facilities. Nice to visit the market opposite on Friday morning. Pleasing historic featured property inside and out.

Silly things really. Room has sloping floors and the round drinks table with a loose glass top was so uneven we had to pack under it. Sloping bed, ill fitting sink plug, loose tap. No detailed invoice upon departure.

Everything, we keep coming back!

Lovely old pub with comfortable rooms and good food in great location. Has a lovely beer garden.

Parking limited. Room no window to see out of as window very high up.

Location is excellent, right on the village square. Room was quaint and clean, comfy bed and quiet overnight.

The man working the reception desk/front of house on the evening of 4th June was awful. Rude, dismissive, completely disinterested in engaging us. We went up at ten to five to say we had a table booked at five o’clock- this seemed to massively irritate him and he just told us to sit wherever. We went into the lounge and every table had a reserved sign! Went back and said this to him, to which he thought rolling his eyes and huffing was an appropriate response. Then when we made him seat us himself. We asked for two drinks - fifteen minutes later kitchen staff had brought our food but no drinks to be seen. Went to desk, had to complain to the female staff member and the male staff member ignored me. Two drinks then appeared in different sized glasses with a third of a head. Took them back to reception and told them to pull the lines through properly. Female staff member then brought us two different drinks and told us the cost would be taken off the bill. The male staff member had been at fault for all of it but left it to her to fix and apologise. I’ve never known rudeness like his in hospitality. It was our tenth wedding anniversary. We went to the Black Swan about eight years ago and it was lovely then…my how it has gone down hill. Tired, with awful service. Read other reviews since and this seems to be a theme. We have stayed at three other Inn Collection hotels and always liked them, but we will not be going back to the Black Swan.

The room was very clean, nicely decorated and very quiet. There were a lot of stairs, some quite steep, which isn’t good for people with mobility issues. The bathroom was clean with a walk in shower which was helpful. The breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked to order. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. A very enjoyable stay.

The Black Swan is situated right in the middle of Helmsley and has very limited car parking spaces. There are only three at the front of the hotel and you have to have a permit from the hotel if you are lucky enough to get one! There is a car park at the side of the hotel but they have 60 rooms and only 25 parking spaces. It was impossible to find a space on some occasions and the only alternative is the public car park opposite the hotel but it is expensive although blue badge holders can park for free but it does get very busy. However, we didn’t let it spoil our enjoyment.

Everything! It’s a lovely refurb from top to bottom. The team are excellent thanks for a lovely stay.
