Vallorcine Apartments

Front desk stayed an hour after closing to greet us and help us check in, spoke English and French perfectly: awesome service, lovely property - wish we'd stayed an extra night just to relax there for a day.

We chose this resort as it was nicely located between the Swiss and French sides of the Rhone Valley. The staff was very accomodating and helpful, from the front office, to the restaurant, and the management. They had excellent suggestions on things to do and places to eat, and went out of their way to make us happy, even calling some thermal spas for us to check on open times (as it was off season). The breakfasts were yummy, the pool area was well maintained and ideal for children, and the spa was nice too. Lovely people and beautiful scenery.

Great place to stay - clean and comfortable. About a 30min train away from Chamonix but the hotel give each guest a free pass for the trains. Restaurants in Vallorcine are good too for some more traditional French food. Would definitely go back!

We loved this hotel. We had an okay trip to the French Alps to ski (very few lifts were open, roads were bad), and this hotel was the highlight of the trip. The apartments were spacious, warm, great selection of free on-demand movies, and had a bath tub. The staff were fantastic - the young woman at the desk gave us a tour from the parking garage through the pool, lobby, and to our room and showed us what we needed to know about our room (like the movies). Internet worked well. You get a free train pass for the area with your stay; we cut one day off from skiing and just rode the train stopping in Chamonix and other villages. The train station is about a 1-2 minute walk from the hotel (3-4 minutes if you're wearing ski boots), and the gondola is about another minute past the train station. This is a very convenient place to stay if you're taking the train. Beware, however, if you drive, like we did, part of the road can get closed off to vehicles without chains (it didn't happen, but we did have some nervous driving moments on slippery switchbacks getting there). We would definitely stay there if we go back to that area, but I'd have a plan of where to park near the train station in Chamonix or Les Houches in case the road to Vallorcine is too bad.

Great friendly hotel out, a little off the beaten track. Great staff and pool/spa. If you stay here, make sure you drive down to Argentiere town and try the ribs at The Office Bar!

Great location for hiking, loved the walk to the falls at st Bernard and free train pass to Chamonix was very useful hotel met all our needs perfect for children pool was perfect and staff couldn't do more for you

The hotel recommended a restaurant up the street - The Three Bears -, and it was an amazing dining adventure!!!

The place was very nice, on top of the mountains. The facilities excellent, and very good service from the staff. No complaints at all.

We went as 2 adults and 2 young children. Skiing/playing was good in le buet. The apartment was really nice and people everywhere was lovely. We found the best place to east was in the 3 bears. I would recommend for a short break especially if you ski as very close to a lift!
