Vallorcine Apartments

Second time we have stayed here with the family. Great value appartments off-season. Clean and homely. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice pool. Perfect location for exploring the Chamonix valley and surroundings.

There is no full time staff in this hotel, the rooms are really 2 or 3 star quality. The spa is a joke really and there was flies everywhere in the restaurant. The restaurant has four small tables and has no space for more than ten people. There is a cheese shop at the hotel but you are not allowed to buy and eat it at the buffet which has no cheese and only a few small selection of cereal and croissant. The hotel is also 30min away from Chamonix and there is nothing around it. All nearby restaurants open at noon. The staff leaves at 8pm until the morning so if you arrive late, you have to do special arrangements. They also have a two hour lunch break. The whole staff is gone. So, don't expect this to be a five star hotel and you will be okay.

Equipped with swimming pool, mini golf and so on, this hotel is quite suitable for families with children. Very helpful staff. Transportation could be an issue, as the number of trains to Chamonix is limited. There are only a few restaurants and one small grocery store around--you have to plan your day well ahead!

It is a nice furnish apartment and it is not a hotel, because of that the reception close at 8:00PM every day, and when I booked it Hotels.com did not inform me at the time of booking, so be carefull if you planning to arrive late, everything else was very good.

It is not recommendable. Door is out of order and security is very doubtful. When I returned at night, room door was unlocked. I suspect that somebody entered room not for cleaning but for some other purpose. I reported it to the reception desk. But Until now I do not have any reply. In addition, room door lock has problem.

Reception staff welcoming and informative. Apartment clean and with everything you need. Facilities great. Was just a stopover for us. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Apartment had everything you needed including a shopping bag! It was warm and comfortable with fabulous views of the mountains.

This hotel has beautiful 5 star premises but, at this time of year at least, is being run on a shoestring like a two star hotel. Our pillows were all lumpy, and reception changed them for us, clearly knowing this was the case. The idea of making guests in a supposedly luxury spa pay for bathrobes is ludicrous. There was no mosituriser cream, particularly unfortunate given the amount of chlorine in the pool, and no coffee or tea in the room. The spa should have a steady supply of additional towels, like any spa. Overall we were left with the impression that the hotel could not decide whether it was a luxury spa or a cheap set of apartments. The shortcuts taken on amenities and the fact that rooms were being offered for sale as apartments suggests the place is in financial difficulty and we were sceptical as to whether the planned extrension would ever be built. As a piece of advice, if you're going to position the place as a proper spa: go the whole way. The skimping on small costs is counter-productive and will preclude repeat business. Although we liked the hotel itself we probably won't be back (unless you want to offer us some freebies!).

It was excellent. The hotel was close to the train, walk right to ski rental and lifts. Great little cafe attached. Perfect location.
