This is a fantastic hotel that I would recommend to anyone. It is so beautifully appointed--inside and out--that you will see tourists taking pictures of it as they walk by each day. Located in a cozy corner of Rothenburg, it is charming and quiet, but still just a few minutes by foot to anywhere in town. Breakfast is very good, with the usual continental fare (meats, cheeses, breads, cereals, fruits) along with made to order egg dishes. The family that runs it and their staff are friendly and efficient, and the room we stayed in (room #8) was very spacious and clean. Mornings were a little noisy in our room as it was located above the front door, but this did not affect us much. Friendly advice to my fellow Americans: (1) There is no A/C here, so plan accordingly during the summer. In mid-September it was warm during the day, but our room had a nice modern fan that helped tremendously with the warmth and humidity. (2) There is no elevator, but wide hallways and stairs. If mobility is an issue, book a room on a lower floor. Just FYI, there is no lunch or dinner restaurant in this hotel, but there is one at the property located just across a nearby courtyard. The food there is good, but not fantastic. This is not a major concern, however, as there are plenty of restaurants and the town is very small. Just be sure to make reservations somewhere for dinner each night, as you never know if the town will be crowded and it will be hard to find a place with availability.

Beautiful historic hotel. Large spacious rooms, very clean. Nice breakfast. Quiet. Located on the old wall with a beautiful valley view from the breakfast room. I would recommend to anyone and would stay there again.

The location and ambience was incredible. We loved it.

Difficult to criticise this hotel but it has to be said that despite the great breakfast, comfortable and spotless room it is a little tired. It’s a good location with lovely views and the owner was extremely helpful and proud of his hotel.

Difficult to find because it’s in the Old Town, but a real hidden gem. By far the best room we’ve stayed in on this our current tour of Europe. The only hotel on this trip with all facilities (kettle, iron, fridge, a/c) available. Shower area and facilities to die for! We intend to come back for the traditional Christmas market.

It was nice staying at a hotel from the 13th century . We felt as if we travelled back in time .

This is an absolute gem of a hotel. Can’t say enough about it from our greeting and check in to having to leave. It is very clean, comfortable and relaxing. Loved the breakfast room with wonderful selections. Everyone was so friendly and cheerful. Would definitely stay there again
