I stayed in a wonderful accommodation in Edinburgh. The room was very cozy, perfectly clean, and had everything we needed. I found it really interesting that the rooms were named after parts of a castle, it made me feel like I was in a real castle, living like royalty! The breakfast was exceptional, a delicious colonial-style breakfast that was definitely worth the experience. Hilary, the person who attended us, was extremely kind and helpful with absolutely everything. I truly recommend this place and would love to stay there again!

This guest house is a beautiful and peaceful retreat in the heart of Edinburgh, near the Holyroodhouse end of the Royal Mile. Hilary is an exceptional host and we felt very welcome during our stay. Points: good public transport connections/easy to get a cab, within walking distance to shopping centre and restaurants, quiet stay despite being close to a main road, lovely continental breakfast with fresh coffee. My family group loved staying here. If you get a chance to stay here (as it’s usually booked well in advance for a reason) take it, you’d be mad not to!

Just to note and not at all a criticism: if any one travelling has mobility issues, please keep in mind there are some steps leading up to the property front door and, apart from the Playfair Room, all other guest bedrooms are down a small flight of stairs.

Everything, perfection. Beautiful place, great bathroom and shower, most comfortable bed we’ve ever slept in.

Having to leave

The host was very accommodating and welcoming. Thanks to her, my trip turned way more comfortable than it could have been. I arrived in Edinburgh super early, but I was allowed to leave my bags as early as 7:30. After a night ride bus from London, I craved a shower and bed, so I was super happy to hear that room would be ready by 12 instead of 3pm stated in the house rules. Finally, I had to leave early, too, to catch the train, and the host prepared the breakfast earlier than usual so that I could eat before departing. The room itself: cosy, clean, small, was ideal for a solo traveller. Oh, and the bath! The guest house was walking distance from the old town and Holyrood park, thus ideal for me. Highly recommend!
