The Tontine Hotel

ordered meal and got dried roll and tough meat and complained and the owner a cheeky woman said I will tell the chef, she had no intention of doing that and she pretended to take something off the meal by pressing the buttons on the card reader then presented the reader but never showed me much she was taking I should have asked to see as she charged the full amoung even though I hardly ate anything form the meal, never again would I go in there, the owner is incompetent and ripping people off

Went for lunch 4 adults. We ordered drinks and they took ages to come. We eventually got a menu and had to ask to have our order taken after the table next to us had their order taken and we had been in about 15 minutes before them. After about an hour our food arrived. Fish and chips. The chips looked like they had been thrown on the plate as they were scattered all over. They were so crisp and overcooked. The peas dried up and inedible. The fish..the order was 2 breaded and one battered and got served 3 battered. The steak pie was not great and the pastry burnt. We were not asked if we wanted another drink and later not asked if we wanted a desert or coffee. The waitress looked as if she couldn't be bothered.

only popped in for a quick pint and asked if could sit outside with it. Took nearly 15 minutes to bring my pint which had a 2 inch head on it tasted watered down possibly the worst Guinness ive ever tasted

Central location, staff amazing went above and beyond to help and we had lunch and breakfast which was excellent with plenty of choices. There’s plenty of cafe bars, shops restaurants and pub just outside the hotel also beautiful walks along the river tweed.

The only thing I found a little less than excellent was the somewhat dated decor and curtains in my single room
