The Bay Tree Hotel

i stayed there a few years ago and was disappointed with the return visit ... the room looked tired [carpets worn and there chips etc on the chest of drawers etc. Also arrived for breakfast at 9.40 and only one member of staff covering and lots of the tables piled with dishes from earlier guests - she was running around doing her best but took some time to take breakfast order and after waiting excessive period i queried how long it would be noting we had to check out at 11am and either our order was submitted to kitchen but either way it appeared the chef had clocked off and had to be called back to the kitchen to make our food !!!!!! i didnt make a fuss at the time as i could see the lady was under pressure but clearly short staffed at breakfast area. Also no ambience that i recalled .. no fire lit etc wont return

Off the main road so quiet

The general manager and her team ensured we had a really enjoyable stay. Lovely Quiet comfortable rooms. Knowledgeable friendly staff. Lovely old building steeped in history. Cosy snug and library with log fires. Plenty of on site parking. Ideally situated just a few minutes walk into the town. Great service. What's not to like, so we extended our stay.

Outside appearance very quaint. Slight damp smell in our bedroom which could’ve benefitted from an open window or diffuser

Although old and quaint some parts could’ve benefitted with some painter general maintenance to keep its charm

Wow, a real gem of a hotel! On arriving we were greated by the wonderful reception staff with a lovely smile and they were very welcoming. They offered to carry our bag’s upstairs which was so thoughtful. An excellent start to our stay! Dinner was superb, we haven’t had a dinner out like that in a long time! The food was excellent. Fair play to the chef, his food was delicious. The waiting staff were very attentive but not intrusive. They couldn’t do enough for you. Couldn’t fault the service from the restaurant staff. Breakfast was equally delicious and very tasty. The food again was piping hot! Again couldn’t fault the breakfast staff. The bedroom was very comfortable, cool and spotlessy clean. Fabulous mattress and bedding. A brilliant nights sleep. Molton brown toiletries were a lovely touch. Only downside was bath over shower, not great when you have a bad back. In this day and age, i think that all hotels should do away with baths and just have a walk in shower. The staff in this hotel really cares that their guests have a very enjoyable stay. They work excellent as a team to make that happen. They were always smiling and happy. The owners are very lucky to have the staff they do. Would highly recommend you stay at this hotel with car parking to the rear which is free! Very central to go anywhere in the Cotswolds and Jeremy Clarksons pub is only 3 miles away! My husband loved that they served cold peroni on tap! Well done to all the staff at The Bay Tree, we really appreciated your excellent service.

Fire had to be finished by 9am due to HSE Had to have our breakfast in the bar as we had the dog but this is not stated No walk in shower had in climb over the bath and my husband is disabled
