Barefoot Addo Elephant Lodge

Nicht für Herbst(beginn) geeignet: Extrem kalt nachts, Heizdecke funktionierte nur im halben Bett, Gasheizgerät war kaputt und konnte nicht ausgetauscht werden, Feuerholz war nass und brannte nicht. Das Essen wäre höchstens für ein mittelmäßiges Holiday-Inn angemessen gewesen und entsprach nicht im geringsten dem Preis und angeblichen „4 Sternen“ der Unterkunft.

Excellent breakfast as were all meals. Staff very friendly. Accessibility very difficult on horrendous roads to get there. You do need a 4X4 and although we had a SUV it was difficult. Access to rooms was steep especially for the elderly as no vehicles could get to rooms. We had lovely accommodation with great views

The game drive was disappointing as windscreen very dirty and could only see out of side windows. Until it rained and then side panels were dropped so could not see at all...

We loved the getaway from Port Elizabeth including the scenic roads to get there.

Nice location but very abandoned and difficult to reach. Superb wildlife, giraffes round the lodge, panoramic view. Personalized (slightly) overprised game drive in Addo NP.

Breakfast was simple but good, staff was friendly but overall this concept seems not to work: too abandoned, too remote, too difficult to reach. Little bit overpriced for what we got.

Interaction with the elephants was great

Very bad gravel road for 25 km. Please mention this when you do a booking to use suitable vehicle for this road
