The Mountaineer Inn

Ashville city and the area is a great place to visit. The mountain scenery is just beautiful but this hotel didn't match that! It has great potential to be a really special unique place with the right owners and management! On the flip side, this hotel is a run of the mill Hillbilly joint that i would not suggest staying in. The negatives outweigh the positives for sure. Most of the workers were friendly but it didn't look right when folks at the front desk were drinking beer, two female friendly workers acting like Daisy duke getting too fresh with men for who knows what reasons as well with us, certain shady people living in the hotel, parking was too tight and the area seem shady, there was a roach on the wall over our bed in the morning which was a turn off. the rooms are so outdated, Curtains were dirty like the air conditioner was, the sheets on the bed were clean like the bathroom which by surprise was clean. Overall, the room was clean, so we were lucky. I recommend look for a place to stay where you can get more positives with a good rate

Loved the room! Very cute, simple and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Check in and check out were both very quick and easy. Staff was very knowledgeable about the location. They gave great recommendations for food and shopping along with easy directions.

I notified the Inn that we are expecting a 50% Refund on our Stay , as they are running it at less than that . For the following reasons , Advertising a Pool , when their License for it ran out at the end of September . Stuffy Room with no airflow , no Fan , and Temperature controlled by Staff , which led us to waking up in the middle of the night freezing , because the night Staff was inconsiderate of the Guests . Extra Blankets may have helped. Bath Towels barely big enough to dry off , Small Hand Soap Bars not Bath bars for Showering , No Shampoo , No Kleenex tissue . Dirt between Doors , as Front Screen Door did not close and no Handle to pull it close . Two Stink Bugs that had to be caught and flushed down the toilet . Could feel that the Carpeting was Dirty , as well as stains on the Bed Comforter . Poor Internet Caused T.V. to cut or freeze , or just stop working . We were told when we arrived that the Inn had been Sold , and it was very apparent to us . If you are going to run your Inn like this , with no Respect or Consideration for your Guests , you shouldn't be running it at all ! And for this reason we are expecting a 50% Refund , when we should probably be Fully Refunded , as it put a real Stain on our time in Asheville N.C.

If I could give zero stars I would. Beds and pillows are atrocious. Walls paper thin to where you can literally hear your neighbors sink running. There was poop smeared on the toilet and an old used rag hanging on the shower rod, there was what I can only assume to be pubic hair along the walls. There were needles along the sidewalk, there was a creepy guy watching me and my friend trying to get to our room and freaked us out so much we literally had to climb down a hill to get to the back alley where the room was to avoid him. ( at 4am when we arrived) also if you arrive in the night you can’t go in the office you have to call a number and wait for someone to come out to you. The AC unit is old and loud as heck so expect to wake up all night when it kicks on. The ceilings were covered in water damage. Overall it’s disgusting do not try and save money to stay here you will regret it so much. Oh! Also our keycards stopped working on the second day. So that was annoying.

There is much character to be experienced and enjoyed here, including in the rooms themselves, which have wood paneling and tiling that have not changed in decades! Hopefully it stays this way. The front desk employee mentioned that a renovation is soon to begin. I hate to think that any of the hotel's distinctive features will be compromised or lost to history. The only real downside of my stay was spotty internet connectivity, but I'm willing to chalk this up to the sort of period, time-travel element of staying here.

I seen roaches, the bed did not have mattress protectors. The room is very out dated

I picked this property because of the location and I thought it would be a great spot to stay at a vintage hotel. It’s old and really it hasn’t been kept up well. The towels were cheap mattress was bottomed out and overall it was not a great experience.

We arrived to the hotel and it was soooo outdated for the price and we didn’t have AC so they offered us a fan which was a joke. The toilet was unstable and rocked back and forth. It smelled very stale. We ended up leaving and renting another place.
